CS Lewis, Josh McDowell. CS Lewis' 'Mere Christianity' is good. Josh McDowell's 'More Than a Carpenter' is a brief reading on the existence of God. Josh McDowell initially started in his research to prove the non-existence of God so he's an interesting read. If you want an extensive one, read 'The New Evidence that Demands a Verdict' also by Josh McDowell. These are apologetics so if you want something intellectual on Christianity, these are excellent sources!
May God's love be with you!

Hello Kevin J.. :)

I used to be an atheist..but that could not save me from my past, nor myself..I also looked into Wicca..it did not help me spiritualy either.. :(

But when I asked Jesus into my heart, I knew that my sins were forgiven..I no longer had any doubt..My heart felt clean, as though I was white as snow..I was drug free..my old life which I thought was exciting, compared nothing to the unspeakable joy I was feeling..I saw everything differently, in a New light..I understood what other Christians meant when they told me that they Loved me..

God bestowed down upon me His Love for my ten year old little girl, whom I could not Love on my own..the emptiness was gone and His Love took it's place..Well Glory..Alleluia..Amen

I also found out what it means to be a believer in Christ..you think that your friends, will see the change in your life..and they do..but it is not something that they want, they no longer wanted to be my friend, they made fun of me, because I no longer swore..smoked pot etc.. :(

For Whom the Son hath set Free is Free Indeed.. :)

But Praise the Lord, by the grace of God go I..I will Love them and keep them all in my prayers, until I go home to Glory.. :)

In Jesus Most Precious Name..
With Love..In Christ..

Well sort of. I started to believe in God again but not necessarily from what you would call a christian perspective.

Several years ago I had an unusual experience concerning an uncle, a distant relative who lived over a thousand miles away.

While driving my car I suddenly felt the unmistakable presence of this relative that I hardly even knew. He was more like someone I had heard about than someone I knew. It was very strange; it felt as though I was momentarily lifted right out of my physical body. I seemed to be suspended somehow beyond space and time, bathed in a love so intense It felt like I could have just disappear into it at any moment if It would have let me. It only lasted for a few seconds, but it seemed to last forever at the same time. I realize how crazy this must sound. The experience was so strong that at first I was afraid I was loosing my grip on reality. I finally managed to chalk it up to an over active imagination.

Three days later I got a call from my aunt telling me that this uncle we are talking about had gone into a coma and died the day I had the experience. It felt like ice water had been poured down my back when she told me this. I had lost any real ideas of God or faith and had become somewhat of an atheist. Needless to say this experience caused me to rethink some of the conclusions I had come to.

I feel blessed to now understand that even in our darkest confusion something loves us so much that it went out of its way to assist me and bring me back to a state of absolute certainty about Gods love for us.
During the experience it seemed like there was a vast amount of information that I was somehow allowed access to. One thing that I came away from this experience understanding beyond any shadow of a doubt was that any Idea that God is unhappy with us or would judge or allow us to be punished for any reason is simply impossible.

I can’t explain the love I felt with words. They simply don’t make words big enough or complete enough to do this. The only way I can begin to convey this love to you is to say that there was simply nothing else there. Nothing but love. No hint of judgment, no displeasure of any sort. It is as though God sees us as being as perfect as we were the day we were created. It only in our confused idea of ourselves that we seem to have changed.

I hope this is of some help to you. Good luck. Love and blessings.

Your brother don

There are a lot of false 'ex-atheists' who engage themselves in a grotesque puppet show of how they had 'given their lives to sin and rejected God to live a more sinful existence before they learned the message of the great mighty Lord' - you can find them in a lot of churches, parading their lies to gullible people everywhere.

Apart from that, I'm guessing the number is very small.

Yes. I was.
I became a believer because it is really difficult to be an Atheist.
I always have to keep tellin my conscience that there is no God.
Which can be quite bothersome after some time.

C.S. Lewis. No, but read his books. Plus, I don't know any that have except him. I think most people work in opposite. Truth is seen after the the silly experience of religion.

Actually I was an Atheist when I was younger but now I'm a Christian. When I had a stroke, God was there and he always will be.

funny you asked this as I have been reading many of these on line where atheists who have had near death experieces are turning to god. just do a search of ex-atheists there are thousands. pretty interesting to hear what they have to say.

Not me...I did the opposite...It took me years to get rid of the guilt trip, then all of a sudden it was off my back, and it feels really good.
