These are demons who have intercourse with you while you're asleep. Our minister preached a sermon involving this on yesterday morning. I believe that demons are very real and the only way to fight them off is through spiritual warfare and prayer in the name of Jesus Christ. Those who believe in demons, what is your take on this?

Do you really believe this crap?

In Western medieval legend, an incubus (plural incubi; from Latin incubare, "to lie upon") is a demon in male form supposed to lie upon sleepers, especially on women in order to have sexual intercourse with them. The Incubus drains energy from the woman it performs sexual intercourse upon in order to sustain itself, and in most cases either kills the victim or leaves the victim alive but in very weak or fragile condition. A female version was called a succubus. There are several possible explanations for the incubus legends:

Women who were pregnant but not married would often accuse an incubus, or when explanation were needed to obscure evidence of extra-marital affairs.
Waking dreams or nightmares.
They form part of the well-attested Medieval preoccupation with sin, especially sexual sins of women.
Actual rapes of sleeping women were attributed to demons by rapists in order to escape punishment.
The feeling of smothering while sleeping is known since antiquity as nightmare. The modern term for this state is sleep paralysis.
Because of the weight given to sexual sin in the Middle Ages, nocturnal arousal, orgasm or nocturnal emission were explained away by the legends of creatures causing an otherwise guilt-producing and self-conscious behavior. Thus people could say they were not to blame for it; it was obviously outside of their control: they were a victim.
Young women/men being sexually assaulted in their sleep by a known attacker such as a friend or family member, although not common, has been reported and may explain some nocturnal attacks. The victims may find it easier to explain the attack as supernatural rather than confront the idea that the attack came from someone that is trusted in the family. See incest or "situational molesters".

Demonic strongholds and oppression do befall many people. It is best to remain prayerful and do not consult with alternative spirits. I believe in Spiritual Warfare but I am also careful about speaking, writing and talking about certain demons because we have limited knowledge of them and they have limited power. I don't believe in giving them any power thus I don't discuss them. Where did your pastor get enough information to give you all facts about these two demons....hope he infused his sermon with lots of scripture. Thanks for shedding light on a part of our world that is very real that many are ignorant to. They'll see someday...don't tax yourself trying to explain too much, but again, thanks.

Such nonsense is taught to you so you will become a cold an unemotional person who is afraid of sex. Ridiculous myths about incubi and succubi have been used for a very long time to promote christianity's neurotic obsession with abstinance.

No offense but I believe that these are creations of the Church designed to scare people into practicing Church Christianity.

I am of Jewish decent and I have never once had any problems or encounters with Demons. I am also 44 years old and I have never met anybody who has had encounters with demons or knew anybody who has encountered demons.

I believe in God and I have faith in Him. I have no belief or faith in demons.

Just my 2 cents.

Or perhaps they are just someone who puts something in your drink then has sex with you and I doubt if prayer will save you from that. Or are you just convincing yourself of this Horses**t so you can proclaim a virgin birth next time you are dropping a sprog.

Its obvious you need medication if you worry about fanatsy demons screwing you while asleep.
I suggest finding a b/f or g/f and doing it for real. Wow its simply unreal how ignorant some parts of society really are.

Incubi and Succubi are a primative, superstitious explanation for nocturnal emissions (wet dreams) and erotic dreams, nothing more.

Just be careful what you say or Santa won't be down your chimney at Christmas with your sack of presents, and the tooth fairy will stop leaving coins under your pillow. You have been warned!
