If we ridicule other peoples idias and belief dont you think it will make them more stuburn towards what they feel rather than having a rational thought and discussion.

I agree with you. So many people here take offence at the least little thing. They gag at the gnats and swallow the camels. I am a Christian and though I may not believe like you I will never intentionally offend. That is a sin. I try my best to not intentionally sin.

No . I think we should respect each other as individuals but it is not possible to demand respect for a religion that may be totally ridiculous in the eyes of somebody else...it's rather our duty to be honest than to ptretend respect.

I agree that foul language or insults just for the sake of it is not called for and there is too much of this coming from people of all creeds here...I don't suppose it will change however.

I don't condone foul language but in answer to your question, no we should not respect religions. Ideas and beliefs must be open to discussion, criticism and ridicule, because otherwise we will never have the freedom to find out which ideas are right and which are wrong. People deserve respect, ideas and beliefs do not.

Yes. Will people? No.

This is because we are indeed talking about people's BELIEFS, and not IDEAS. Ideas can change, beliefs can't. When someone doesn't believe what you believe, it is a violation of the most foul sort. I personally don't care what you or anyone else believes, that is your own business and I will leave you to it.

Absolutely!

I don't have a religion however when defending my views I don't believe that using foul language gives my point any more validity. In fact, it makes one sound more uninformed and uneducated about the topic when one has to resort to using foul langauge instead of facts.

it isn't any longer even a question of comprehend, quite. it truly is a question of tolerance. i do not ought to comprehend someone's' beliefs, nor does someone ought to comprehend mine. i am going to (and do) locate Christianity stupid. And see you later as it truly is so a procedures because it is going, it truly is fantastic - i'm no longer attempting to circumvent their ability to practice their beliefs. in spite of the indisputable fact that, i'm no longer offered an similar tolerance in opposite. specially, if i had to bypass out and get married today to the fellow i love, i'd be unable to finish that save in a handful of states in my usa - and the regularly happening reason behind it truly is the movements of extremist Christian lobbyists.

If you want your religion to be respected then you have to respect mine and by respecting all other religion ,everybody would be respected but by asking question or inviting other in your religion doesn't mean that you have put water on the religion

It would be utopia if everyone showed respect and dignity for other people's beliefs.

Unfortunately, some religions explicitly teach their followers NOT to be tolerant of those holding different beliefs: radical Islam, fundamentalist Christian, Neo-Con Republicans, ....
