As a Christian, I of course, believe Jesus Christ was God in human form.

I understand that your faith respects him as a prophet from God.

Are you aware that at his trial, when the Pharisees asked him if he was the son of God, he answered, "I am"....?

They knew what he was implying. That's why they called him a blasphemer and tore their robes.

Here is my question. How can you respect him a prophet of God (or Allah, if you prefer), when he claimed to be the son of God. Out of his own mouth he said, "I am the way....no one can come to the Father but by me".

I can't be the first person to wonder about this. What is the Muslim answer?

Thank you.

My references for Jesus' statement about being the son of God are:
Matthew 26: 63,64
Luke 22: 70

You will be amazed if you learn a little how Muslims deal with their own prophet Mohammad PBUH sayings. We don't accept any statement from our own prophet except if it is authentic. The book of Al-Bukhari which is the most trustful book in Islam after the holy Quran listed only 6000 saying of prophet Mohammad selected from over 600000, this means he only accepted 1% of prophet Mohammad sayings according to his criteria for authentic Hadith. This Hadith science is amazing as it study the chain of people who transmitted every Hadith regarding their honesty, memorization, and relation to each others. Not to make it long what evidence you have to prove that Jesus son of Mary PBUH did say that? Thanks.
To Metal Baz: You are not a Muslim and telling lies is a sin both in Islam and Christianity. Please read the Quran.

Esa, Jesus, is the holy prophet of healing and blessings to children. Islam does show that Esa was of immaculate birth; but we do not consider God the Father because Allah is beyond an animal act; Allah does not have sex to create; merely the word to BE is given and the creation is complete. In the same way, Esa is the way because it is believed that he will be the Redeemer, in the same manner as the Christians believe that he will be the Saviour in the last days. And Islam means submission to God, not to Jesus, not to Mohammad, not to any other prophet. There is no God but God, and Esa, Mohammad, Ibrahim, Mousa, Yousef, Noah, all of these and many more were prophets of God. None can be equal to God.
