I think that psychics are people that have a very weak sense of causality.If you ask them to logically evaluate something, they get nervous and anxious because it's somehow hard for them to do. Thus, they go through life making associations instead of causal connections and when they make an accurate association, they think it's being 'psychic'.
For example, if I saw someone wearing a red shirt and it the store next door was a mcdonald's were they wear red shirts, I'd say, "oh, you work at mcdonalds." But a 'psychic' would see the red shirt and say something like, 'I feel you have a strong relationship to food', because they'd forget that the people wearing red shirts work next door. Then if they're correct, they think they have special powers.
