What's the best way to teach your child about religion?

I've determined that I want to teach my child about God and the Christian beliefs, but what's the best way to tackle this with a small child?

1. Find a good church in your area, one with a good Sunday School and/or Children's Church program.

2. Bible story books and children's Bibles are helpful. Christian bookstores often have a wealth of good materials for teaching children about Christianity.

3. Start with the basics...how to treat others, difference between right and wrong, etc. Use day-to-day experiences to teach your child.

4. Living your life in the way you want your child to live his/her life is probably the best way to teach your child about Christian beliefs. Children follow the example of the people closest to them.

Take your child to church every time the door is open. Talk openly about God and Jesus around them. Talk about heaven and hell. Right and wrong. Get a kids Bible and explain easy verses and explain who Jesus is and how God sent him to the earth. Pick out certain verses in the Bible that you think he'll understand that teach him about doing good and being Christ-like. You should also put him in a sunday school class on Sundays and Wednesdays. Make sure you like the church first and make sure it is the one God wants you to go to. Just pray too and God will tell you how to teach your child.

Make the bible come alive by acting out the stories and/or making crafts together that represent what was done in the story. Relate the scripture back to your child by asking things like this:
