Do you actually tithe based on the gross amount from your checks?

I notice a lot of people pay 10% after taxes instead of 10% of your gross pay.

Would you still do this if, say, you had to write the government a check every week instead of them taking it out automatically?

I pay 10% of the amount I have increased. If my check was gross $1000 but I only received $800, I pay $80. Then, if I get any taxes back, I pay on that too.
It is a wonderful blessing!

Tithing is between you and God - I used to tithe on my bring home pay. Then I had no income for two years and I learned to rely on faith, and I learned to tithe on everything as it all came from God or it didn't come at all - long story - I'll spare you the details - so now, I tithe 10% on any amount of actual money that comes into the house, and then I give offerings above that, separate from the tithe, as they are to be blessings. I used to use the tithe, etc., as tax deductions, as you can since a church is usually a non-profit facility, but I quit, as I decided I was taking back from God what I had given to him and since we were always self-employed, that meant we had to pay in taxes every year, so there wasn't a matter of paying a tithe on our refund. Trust me, you ask God what he wants you to do and you'll know in your heart and you'll be glad you did it the way he leads.

The tithe was introduced in the Old Testament as a minimum amount to be given back to God. Arguments regarding gross or net income just show that Jesus is not Lord of an important area of many Christians' lives. My Bible tells me that the earth and everything in it is the Lord's. That makes me a steward, responsible for using whatever He entrusts me with for His purposes. I don't actually own anything, but Christ demands a still higher price, He wants me to forsake any trace of self so that I might be nothing more than a container for His glory.

A complete study of tithing will show you several things. One is that it is strictly a tithe of food(never money)Duet. 14:22-26 and that it is to be eaten by the tither, either in the temple or at home.Tithing is a part of the law concerning the Levitical priesthood and if a church is going to keep part of the O.T. law then they also need to sacrifice animals at the alter and many other things that they would never do because it is part of the law. Jesus and his apostles did not teach tithing, this church doctrine is only taught by corrupt greedy false teachers that don't want to work for a living. I work a 45-50 hour job and run a full time ministry in which I don't take offerings and spend most of my hard earned money to help others in their search for God. We are to live by faith and rely on God to provide for us, the preachers in churches should do the same. Where is their faith when they make you sign commitment cards for missions, building funds etc. The only thing that they have faith in is themselves and their ability to con the innocent workers out of their money. Read the book the 'Lie of the tithe' by Ray Johnston or contact me through my below website, and make sure to click on Las Vegas, and I will again spend my own money to help teach you the truth and send you the book for free. If you want to please God with your money then go help someone down on their luck by buying a homeless person a meal and telling them that God loves them. May God be with you as you may be about to enter an entire world of truths that your church prays you will never find.

My husband makes $2600 a month after taxes so I give 10% of that. I have never failed to give that $260 a month and I've never been late on a bill or not have what I needed. As a matter of fact we just got approved to buy our new house today and we are getting a brand new Toyota next weekend. God has blessed that 10%. Think of it this way. God gives us our jobs and all the good things we have. You give him 10% and then you have 90% to live off of. 90% is alot!

Personally, tithes are the reason I don't go to church. I don't have much money but when I do, I donate here and there to those that are less fortunate than me. I feel it's wrong to give money to a church unless you want to. I will put into the collection plate when I do choose to go on rare occasions, but there's no way I'm giving 10% of my earnings. It shouldn't matter what we do with that money as long as we are helping out someone less fortunate. A preacher isn't less fortunate than me, but a family that has to go to a soup kitchen is. I'd rather give them any spare money I have rather than giving it to a church.

Tithes and offerings are commanded by Jesus therefore I pay my tithes every week and I based it on my gross.

Yes, I tithe. In the Old test. the Jews gave 10 percent to the church so that it's needs could get met. Some false preachers abuse this b/c Satan masquerades as an angel of light, but as for me and my house, I am going to give anyway b/c I am not giving to the preacher, I am giving back to God to show him that I am grateful for all he has given to me. :O)

It is an essential part of the Church. I pay 10% of my earnings before taxes. This is a commandment of God therefore I do it.

tithing is giving God our best, so what if it was turned around would you want God to give you gross or net blessings? If means that much to you give it up and trust God. He will provide
