I asked this question earlier but I would like more responses and more people seem to be on now. Okay, I know that many people have different views on whether or not CCM is wrong. I just want opinions from everyone - atheists, Christians, etc. In your answer, please include why you think CCM is okay or not, and I would appreciate it if you put if you're a Christian, atheist, Muslim, wiccan, etc., but if you're uncomfortable doing that then that's okay. Thank you for your time :).

As long as that your listening to has the witness of a christian, im ok with it. I dont agree with Metal, Acid Rock, that screaming into the microphone, blowing speakers and eardrums kinda music. If you cant understant the words at all, then waht is the difference in it and, say Ozzy Osborne? I want to be able to hear the difference. So CCM.... Casting Crowns, Steven Curtis Chapman Kepp going guys.... You Metal Singers... a little less screaming please :)

I am a Christian and I looooooovvvveeee CCM. I've always loved music of many styles--especially rock. I grew up listening to Kiss, Def Leppard, etc. (oops, am I showing my age!?! LOL) I even married a drummer!! I'm not a "holy roller" who thinks rock music is the root of all evil. Songs of any style can have a positive or negative message--it's all in the lyrics.
I now listen to a CCM station almost all the time. The bands are great and the message is even better! While I am driving I can crank it up and sing along just like I always have with other styles of music. The best thing is that it keeps me focused on God! It lifts me up and reminds me what it means to me to be a believer. The bible talks of praising Him with song and dance. Who can argue with that?
Favorites include Kutless, Casting Crowns, Third Day, Jeremy Camp, MercyMe just to name a few.

I think it's great as long as the lyrics truly focus on God. A lot of them don't and just sound like some secular love song. As for the music style of CCM I think it's up the the individual to decide. Again, as long as the lyrics truly have a Christian message.

I actually have two cd's by Warren Barfield that are considered CCM. I was looking in the jazz section when I found the first one. I didn't realize it was CCM until I was at the checkout. I bought it anyway and then looked for the next one because I like his music and voice.
I consider myself an atheist at this time, but was raised in church.

I'm a Christian and I think that CCM is AWESOME, especially for teens and kids. It helps them to better relate to traditional hymns. I know for me, I especially like going to the Contemporary service at my church. I feel more comfortable, and I know the songs, and I don't have a problem singing along. And I like the sound of our contemporary band more than the organ.....personal preference.
I especially like songs like: Shout to the Lord, Breathe, etc. Hope this helps.....God Bless!

I am Christian. I don't like CCM but I am not against it. I tend to be traditional when it comes to all aspects of life but if it helps some Christians on their walk then I'm all for it.

I love ccm but turn to more to gospel choirs/groups music. I love jackie velesquez and steve chapman and really love and my most favorite is Third day! I believe this kind of music is for everyone only if it's not too close to secular music.

I find ccm a cop out just there to draw kids back into the church and away from the "evil" of rock music.
I'm Anglican, by the way

Atheist- I don't like CCM. It's not really my style. I like heavy metal. And I know quite a few metal songs that say god isn't real so that kinda fits me.
