you know sometimes people change their opinions about people just by their knowledge.

For example, if you know this person who is always moody so you just 'judge a book by its cover' and say they are unfriendly
But then you find out they are just shy so you change your whole opinion of them?

is that just human nature ...what do you call it?

Okay, here's the deal: I live on-campus in a university in Canada. Tonight my classmate which is a 50 y/o lady came to visit me and when she was leaving I wanted to go downstairs and smoke with her and when I grabbed my jacket she said "you can't come outside like that, gotta put on trousers" (I was wearing shorts), and I was like why, and she said it's not decent for this time of the year and there are drunk dudes outside and "you HAVE TO put on trousers".

Now I'm disappointed and thinking why would she say such a thing? This is a free country and on-campus housing is a safe place...and I didnt like her telling me what to do but I also didn't want to say it to her face cause I thought it may be too harsh and maybe she was just trying to be nice.

Everybody, please help me out here and tell me how would you feel if someone said that to you. She's quite an open person for a 50 y/o and has a boyfriend herself, it was just so unexpected from her...

I've noticed more times than not, white people are encourage to date outside their race but blacks are encouraged to stick with "their own kind". And on top of that white people are sometimes seen as racist if they aren't open to interracial dating. But how do you do that if a certain number of black people encourage themselves and others to stay within their race but it's the opposite in the white community? I mean interracial dating is a two way street, each side needs to be open before it's done.

I'll first say what made me ask this. One of my contacts asked a simple question about what we called Brazil nuts growing up. Immediatly I knew what she was getting at. All my life everyone in my family, and all my friends families called these little nuts by a term that most people consider a racist term. There is also a flower that grows where I live, that is also called by that name. I never said this name in a racist way, in fact I never really thought about it, however when I read the answers to her question, there were alot of people who instead of just answering the question, took the opportunity to jump all over the asker for using that term and wanted to point out that she shouldn't use that term around her kids. I really wanted to just say "GIVE ME A BREAK PEOPLE!" It isn't being said in a racist way, it was just a term that people where I live have been saying for as long as I can remember. For all I care, people can call vanilla cupcakes "cracker cakes" in their own home.

My daughter is one of two people at her high school who "dresses dark". Her reason for doing this is because it's the style she feels best suits her personality. She does not believe in God, either, but she doesn't go around forcing her views on others. However, if people ask her whether she believes in God, she does tell them she's Agnostic. Niether does she iworship the devil, however, as some folks would think by seeing how she dresses. She is a very unaggressive person and really just wants to to be liked. However, she has always been "diffferent", and feels she has never fit in with the popular groups in school. She really has no close friends except her "on-line friends" but she is very sweet and honest and makes good grades.

Now, some girls are harassing her at school. They call her by a name they have given her, not her name. This is disrespectful. They call out her name over and over, when they see her between classes, and mock her. What should she do?

Should The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn be banned from public schools, due to its racist connotations, and its use of the N - word? Why or Why Not?

There are many who say this book is to controversial to be read in public schools, by any nationality. What do you think.

And yes, you can answer with a simple YES or NO.

I'm in eighth grade, and I live in the United States. Over spring break (in March at my school), I am going to spend 10 days in Spain and France.
In Spain, we are visiting Barcelona, and in France, we are visiting Marseilles and Nice.

What can I expect in France and Spain? What are some of the culture differences I should try to learn?

Thanks in advance!!

Terrorist Suicide bombers - VAST majority are male, a very few are female
School shooters - ALL male as far as I know
Murderers - How many convicted murders are female compared to male? Not many
Torture in the world - Iraq war, Saddam, George Bush. Saddam's torture videos show all MEN torturing people.

I am male but I believe it would be better, more peaceful if women ruled.
