Scorpian S, I appreciate your opinion. My opinion is that it should not be censored at all. Does anyone else agree with this.

Remember, this book is still in danger of being banned. Lets start an internet phenomenon (if possible) and greatly contribute to this thread.
We should get hundreds of answers to this question, to let america know what it is that we want.

No, because if you censor Huckleberry Finn, you are censoring history. Mark Twain wrote this novel during a time of racial struggles in the United States and the diction sets the tone of what the US was like at that time.

No, this book should not be banned from schools! My son is reading it right now. It is an American classic and part of our heritage. Kids are getting way too pussified these days, if anything is going to be banned it should be political bleeding heart people who turn our kids into these emotionally impotent little beings. Nobody has ever died or lost any self-worth over reading Huck Finn and if they have then they probably should have been seeing a therapist anyway. I stick with the old rule of if you don't like something, don't look it! But don't go telling MY kid what he should and should not be looking at.

Absolutely not! It's a classic and there is much to be learned from it. There is nothing controversial about a book written true to the time it is chronicling. You cannot learn how to make a better future if you clearly don't understand or want to whitewash the past. I find this move to remove our past very frightening. Anyone read Fahrenheit 451?

No.
A book must always remain as part of the time in which it was written. The times were racist ... reflecting that does not stop it being a great book.
As for the N-word: please, it really is time people grew out of getting upset over name-calling.
I read that one education board in the USA wanted to ban "To Kill a Mockingbird" for the same reasons; and that despite Atticus's speech in court being one of the greatest comments on equality ever written or spoken.
All this whining, mamby-pamby PC crap is foolish nonsense from people with way too much time on their hands, and too few brains with which to think.

No, the book could be edited as not to offend but banning it is like burning it. I read the book as a kid but I don`t remember the N-word in it , but I do remember the story over-all.

No. Banning books is wrong; censorship causes blindness. If students are shielded from the potential ugliness of our society and our past, they will never be able to prevent it from recurring.

NO. It describes a time in our history that we should not be proud of, and we should remember it so we're not tempted to revert.
