I'm in eighth grade, and I live in the United States. Over spring break (in March at my school), I am going to spend 10 days in Spain and France.
In Spain, we are visiting Barcelona, and in France, we are visiting Marseilles and Nice.

What can I expect in France and Spain? What are some of the culture differences I should try to learn?

Thanks in advance!!

Check out Fodors Travel site on line for the areas you will be traveling to. They tell you everything you need to know about how to dress, the area's customs, and even have a language lesson section for you to practice some phrases. I use this whenever we go overseas and it's been immensely helpful. Learn as much as you can about the people and try to fit in with their lifestyle. You can do it all online. I used this site and others before going to France and am going to Germany for the first time in a few weeks and have been using this site for weeks trying to make sure I understand what is expected before I go. It was right on for Paris and Leon.

Try and learn a few phrases of each language if you do not already speak them. In Spain, going barefoot is not really acceptable except on the beach as far as I know. In France make sure you try some of the wonderful cake shops and in Spain, you must have some tapas. These are small portions of food designed to keep hunger at bay till proper meal times. Spanish people eat very late at night in hot weather. For tapas one of my favourites is patatas ali oli, potatoes with garlic mayonnaise. Make sure you get some lovely crusty bread to mop up every last drop. Enjoy yourself.
