You have no idea about the magnitude and impact of commutative collective human knowledge and the derived wisdom. If you look at yourself deeply and honestly, you shall find that you don't even have 1% of your own, where as more than 99% of you is based on the collective knowledge of the society, imparted to you through your senses over a period of time and shall continue through out your life.Yes,you are brilliant,if you can recognize this fact and accept it without any reservation or take it as a revelation. After all, brilliant are the people who grasp facts and truths faster than others.

The thing is that society in general is being kept clueless by the system. We find it more important to have things rather than trying to use our brains a little more (or think that using our brain means for instance, making more money).
We're being kept busy wondering about things like Paris Hilton's underwear, consuming stuff we don't need, like a better car, etc., so we don't see what's really going on, like all economical powers stepping on our rights.
No need to be too brilliant to see this, or maybe I'm also brilliant.

your not brilliant in that your asking if society is clueless, no brilliant would have been your realization that society just doesn't care anymore. Any comparrison to the 50's, to now will work just fine. Now figure out how to go back there and fix it, now thats brilliant.

The word may not necessarily be "clueless". Apathetic is how I see it. Most people are certainly aware of both the good and the bad which are happening around them--they simply couldn't care less or are plain too lazy to bother.
