20 or 30 years yet and the energy needed to extract 1 petroleum gallon will cost more than 1 petroleum gallon. It will be the beginning of the end of the petroleum age. Not too far: the most of us will see that day! Other energy sources are now still completely insufficient to replace petroleum and our technical devices are mostly not ready for conversion. What will it happen to the people living on earth? To global market and production based on the low cost of energy and transports? To the indispensable technological supports to human life? Will it be a sort of apocalypse with wars and massacres for the last petroleum drops? Before the petroleum use only 1 milliard people lived on earth, now we are 6 milliard: what will it happen to the exceeding 5 milliards?

I am a colombian-american. I don't go around telling people, I'm proud of both sides of my nationality no favorites here. Well this girl I barely knew was at my house with my roomate. The news was on and the story about the toy recall was on. Now I know she didn't know me. She came out of nowhere and stated that she was so happy that the dora the explorer toys were recalled not because of the lead paint or whichever but because the kids in america shouldn't be learning spanish, that they should know they're in america and to speak just english. I was shocked. Any parent you talk to loves dora and the education she brings. Now I agree that latin people should learn english if they're going to be here for a while and if they come to the US that they be legal. But her saying that just hit home to how close minded people are. It didn't offended me personally, but morally I was like whoa! thats just ignorant. I only know 2 languages, I am in awe at people that know 3-5 languages. Opinions??

I baby sit a very talented 12yr old girl, She is writing a novel about her life...Would you buy it? It is about her opinions on things..her life....etc.
I read the first couple chapters and they were GREAT! :D
But that's in my Opinion.....its about her parents divorce right before christmas...and how she handles it.
I think it is pretty good.
She writes about what she thinks about in life at her age.
She said to me that she wants to try try try to get it published...she said people would think it was ridiculous for a 12yr old girl to be writing a novel, but she is smarter thatn your average 12 yr old and would just want to try..
Would YOU buy it?

I imagine this has been posted before but... if there is no supreme, omniscient, omnipotent being, how can there really be a right and wrong? I understand a majority in society can determine what is CONSIDERED to be right and wrong, but on an individual level how can you tell someone what they do is right and wrong.

The way I see it, the only way to say what is absolutely right and wrong is for there to be a being greater than us, and who created everything, because then He has the right to determine what should and should not be. Otherwise, I don't see how any individual, or even a majority of people, can tell another person that something they do is wrong. Sure, society can put an individual in jail or punish them however, but what I'm saying is, can we really consider what they did to be wrong. Maybe a better term would be "not condusive to the well being of society."

Just thinking. Not really looking for a religous argument. Just your thoughts on this theory. Thanks.

My best friend and I and my 8 year old decided to go out for breakfast one morning at a Waffle House. We were pretty famished at arrival and we walked inside to find no available tables. We were optimistic because we were the only ones waiting to be seated next.

We waited about 10 minutes or so, not very long, when 4 soldiers in uniform came in. Immediately someone at a table shouts out to them, "Over here! We are almost finished, you can sit at our table". So they stood up and as the soldiers began to walk to the table offered. One looked at us and said, "Well they were here first" and he was not heard and they sat down and were served.

I thought that we deserved to eat just as much as anyone else, and I was disturbed that these grown men were seated before two women and a child even though we had already been waiting. It didn't look as though another table would clear anytime soon so we left and went across the street.

What would you think if this happened to you?

I'm an avid fan of THE Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, and I grew my hair long like Tommy Oliver [Green/White Ranger]. I dress like Tommy, and even talk like Tommy! How can R.L. White (NAACP) support Mike Vick and his actions by saying something as dense as 'Mike Vick wouldn't be vilified as much had he killed a person'. What kind of crap is that? This is not a white/black thing! Michael Vick is one of the "faces of the NFL", so of course he's going to be under more scrutiny than say a third string cornerback, but I truly don't believe race is an issue. Furthermore, the NAACP further proves that the black community needs new leaders. What are your thoughts on R.L. Whites comments, and should Vick be let back into the lead?

First off, I'm a black male that was dating an Asian (Chinese) female. I went to her house one day (extremely nervous) and met her mother. My ex-girl had two younger sisters that both had white boyfriends. As I talked with her mother, I noticed that she had this stern, determined look on her face to not smile or show any kind of emotion. She asked me some offensive stereotypical questions, yet I answered them politely. When I told her I was in college she just said "Really? That's nice." She then asked my ex to go into the kitchen with her. They argued for about 10 minutes but I didn't pay attention until I heard her mother's EXACT words: "Why you don't go with white guy?! You could at least find Chinese!" I was shocked. My girl came out of the kitchen with a forced smile, and then we left. The next day, she told me "we should just be friends". Because I still like her, I agreed. Now she goes with a white guy, and I feel SOOO crushed. Should I still be friends with her?

I think there needs to be a word for painted on jeans and tight t-shirts (like Tim McGraw and Trace Adkins wear, not that I object), tight tank tops, too-short shorts, Speedos, and certain other fashion statements that men sometimes make. I never hear the word "slutty" used for a man or his clothes, but sometimes I think you kind of *need* a word like that. What do y'all think? What would you call clothes like that on a guy?
