No. Be truthful to yourself, that's all you can be. Other people can have hidden agendas and their opinion might be weighted toward one view or another despite how you live your life. As long as you're happy with yourself you should be alright.

Before I lived my life by what other people thought I should do and I lost my identity. I was someones wife, mother, social worker and employee. After years in a loveless marriage I finally found the courage to get a divorce. After that I felt so liberated that a new me emerged that apparently had been there all the time, but was buried away. I started living my life the way I wanted to regardless of what anyone who knew me or society thought was right. It gave me as much liberation as my divorce did and now this is how I live. It took me a long time to realize that I am the only one responsible for my life so I should do what I want and what I think is right rather than conform to some other idea of right, wrong or acceptable.

I lived according to what I thought was expected of me for more years than I care to remember. Now I try to live my life the way I want to but I still try to accommodate other peoples needs as well.

Tough question. I think I use other people as an excuse not to live the way I want.
It's easier not to make big decisions by saying we can't do that it would upset so and so too much.
That's not to say I am unhappy. Just a bit static perhaps. And I definitely hide behind what other people think as a reason not to make life changing decisions.
And I think I care more about what they feel than what they think.

Let's put it this way; if I wasn't limited in a financial sense, I'd go where ever I wanted and do whatever I wanted to do. Living your own life isn't easy when you don't have the resources to do so...

I live how i choose but my life is influenced by the people around me and vise versa. It does not matter what adults think about me but children need role models and so for them I do live my life by what they think of me.

I don't give a flying #### what people think of me or how I live my life. I honestly believe if you can't be honest with yourself you can't be honest with anyone.
