I think they both have their pro's and con's...

Pro's to uniform- save money on clothes, takes focus off of fashion

Con's to uniform- kids are mean regardless, and if they can't alienate each other by their clothes, they'll just do it in another form

Most people look at the downside of uniforms; Loss of individuality. In some cases that isn't a bad thing, especially where there is a huge social rift. Uniforms can keep people from "seeming different" and some people believe that will keep some tensions down.
I like uniforms in the sense that I don't have to find something to wear everyday. On the other hand I only have a few pairs of pants and a few shirts so I seem to wear the same things a lot regardless. Also, I'm comfortable in my own clothes, not really so much in uniforms.

i like pretty uniforms, and i think they are better for school that way you dont have to think so hard on what your going to wear the next day. I used to go to a private school and they had some ugly uniforms. The schools need to make them more attractive. Some people are against it cause they think it takes away from their individuality.. Which they dont have anyways cause if you take the time to watch people at the mall everybody looks the same. so in a way everybody is wearing a uniform of some sort.

I like to see kids wearing uniforms. So if they are being obnoxious on public transport I know which school to lodge the complaint with. But I think it's good for kids to wear the same clothes at school so that they feel equal to each other and their parents don't have to spend so much money keeping up with the daily fashion dilemmas. But when I was in school I thought differently because I was so self obsessed with my own sense of individualism. In retrospect, the clothes I wanted to wear instead of my school uniform were just another kind of uniform - a fashion one.

Lets put it this way. If all schools were to have a uniform policy, less fights would break out. For example, kids these days take a high pride in what they wear and each one says that they are the "trendsetter" and when another student wears the same thing, they are said to be "taking their style". Usually fights occur when this happens. Even when you have the same shirt as someone who goes to your school but you have never even spoken to causes a fight. If everyone wears a uniform that would stop. Sure it may be blah but it will keep schools a bit safer if you ask me.

Well it solves the question of tomorrows outfit.

I found that when I was in private school I did better than when I was in public school because I focused less on looking hot since no makeup was allowed and hair was to be tied in a ponytail and there were no boys to impress; no jewelry of any sort was allowed; hair HAD to be your natural color; there were only 3 styles of shoes to choose from; gym clothes were also uniform. They kept on adding more and more rules whenever someone tried to de-uniform themselves (ex. the rule of hair color was never there until 3 girls decided to dye their hair pink purple and green. Anyway I focused in on school work and did great.

I like my own outfits better of course. But uniforms are better during school days.

I think uniforms are wonderful in school because it removes the class distinction. Everyone has the same thing and it just puts less pressure on the kids that are less priviledged than their affluent peers. As far as a firefighter, a police officer, or a soldier yes theres nothing like a man in uniform. As for me, ewww no way.

I'm a uniform fan. I wore one in school for 4 years. Didn't
hurt me a bit. You get used to it. Everyone looks the same
and looks nice. No grubby stuff. I wish all schools would
have uniforms. That would end this clothes nonsense.
