I know just what you mean. My Dr.s are so much younger than I am, sometimes I think I may need a generational translator.
And when they start on the lifestyle change to benefit my health problems it's all I can do not to laugh in their faces. They haven't a clue about the energy level of our age group. Not to mention the physical limitations brought on by limited flexibility, etc.
I think they should be made to take courses in limitations brought on by not only age but illness in general.
Strap them into joint restraints, wrap a strap around their neck and attach it to their belt to pull them forward, add ten lb. weights to their shoes [I'm sure I could think of more, but this will do for now] and send them about their daily routines. Makes me giggle just to think about it.

I'm a "Baby Boomer" & I do indeed remember when our family doctor wore a suit & tie. I even remember when doctors made house calls & would follow up with a phone call the next day to see if the ill one was feeling better. I miss those days for sure.

Hi and good morning...I remember when my dr. as a child would make home visits...lol. Not anymore. And yes, he always wore a suit and tie with his 'white jacket'. An he was a much older gentleman. The dr. I have now is probably 20yrs. younger than myself...lol. The medical field is changing. Have a great day!

The president is younger than most of us!
Yes, I remember when the doctors were exactly as you stated. But I heard on the radio last week that doctors who wear ties carry germs and bacteria from one patient to the next. It's good for business.

I sure do remember, our good old doctor when I was a kid.I was about 12yrs. old when I had pneumonia and if it was'nt for Dr.Richardson I would'nt be here today. He would stay all night at our house to keep an eye on me.I'm from a small town in New Brunswick, and in the winter our doctor would drive as far as he could by car and then put on a pair of snow shoes to trek the rest of the way to our house. What a great doctor he was ,I will never forget him.

Shootfire, grand pa...I even remember when a doc made house calls! Ours was Dr. Allen, he was older than dirt, wore a dark blue suit & vest with a gold watch-chain, carried the famous little black bag and just his presence beside my little bed made me feel better. I remember how cool his hands were thumping on my wheezing little chest...I'm not sure today's kids in Keds even know how to do auscultation anymore...they seem to have computerized everything!

Hope I don't offend you but some of those old docs are often behind the times and should consider retirement or an awful lot of continuing education .
--you can thank medical malpractice lawsuits for the extinction of things like house calls.

Some of them look as if they are just old enough to drive. I had boy come in driving, he made feel old, I remember his grandfather running around in diapers. But I got it on them, I have full head of hair and very few gray hairs. Clean living and no wife.
