Society changes happen first in oneself, then in one´s family. Today´s world is a sad witness to a terrible awareness in the family nucleus. The invasion of the media and its low cultural level undermines what parents try to teach their children and school is at best an arena where competition in dress and brand accessories make the youth more frivolous than ever.
If parents had the will, they could probably change that. But it requires tough love, which breaks my heart each time I have to apply it.
Nevertheless, I try my best to make my daughters responsible, ethical and balanced individuals. I hope I´m not making too many mistakes.

Anything else like revolution would only end up in a bloodbath. And political tools are useless.

So I keep my start small and with small nuclei solution as the least bad system.

Education is the key. If your kids aren't learning good values in school, the best gift you can give them is communication. Discuss everything. Instill in them good common sense and reason. Use every opportunity. When you see them watching junk on TV, don't just pull the switch, talk about it. Make sure they are grounded and responsible people. I see so many frivolous airheads out there. People like that will be bull-dozed over.

We could start by not berating people for having an opinion about a book.

EDIT - Please read the following:

Deuteronomy 21:18-21
Deuteronomy 22:23-29
Exodus 21:2-21
Deuteronomy 13:6-10
Numbers 35:11-27
Leviticus 15:16-33

Enjoy!

Transcend our egos. Change ourselves. As Christ and other spiritual avatars have long advocated. Overcome our pettiness, jealousies, and truly become our brothers keepers. It begins with ourselves and our attitudes, and always has. Hard work, but we are the only ones who can undertake it. As Pogo said in the McCarthy era: "we have met the enemy, and he is us."
