How can R.L. White (NAACP) support Mike Vick and his actions by saying something as dense as 'Mike Vick wouldn't be vilified as much had he killed a person'. What kind of crap is that? This is not a white/black thing! Michael Vick is one of the "faces of the NFL", so of course he's going to be under more scrutiny than say a third string cornerback, but I truly don't believe race is an issue. Furthermore, the NAACP further proves that the black community needs new leaders. What are your thoughts on R.L. Whites comments, and should Vick be let back into the lead?

I think that the NAACP needs to exercise more objectively instead of indiscriminately supporting every black person who gets in a jam. And that's coming from a black man. I simply do not understand why Vick would be into illegal dog fighting. Any money he would make from it would be peanuts compared to his NFL and endorsement. Vick obviously made some very stupid decisions.

I also think that Vick should be allowed to return to the NFL after he serves his time. The NFL has allowed players to return after being convicted of manslaughter and drug trafficking. Compared to those crimes, dog fighting isn't that bad.

Just a note, that the leadership of the NAACP doesn't have a real clue about what is going on. There are some real injustices out there due to racism, but they are focused on Michael Vick? That doesn't make sense. R.L. White doesn't mention that hunting is licensed and legal, but dog fighting is a felony in 46 states and federally. And was illegal when Vick started it. Why wasn't White saying this before Vick got arrested if it was really an issue with him? As far as your comment the gambling and racketeering charges were dropped. They were never filed. There are gambling charges that are still applied. But a new set of gambling and racketeering charges were never filed due to the plea agreement. He still has two sets of gambling charges against him.

I don't think it should be a black/white issue it is all about Vick and his poor choices. The African American Community does need new LEADERS not people who pick battles that aren't worth fighting. This should never have been raicial but like many other things that go awry it became a racial issue. In the end he did a crime he should get his penalty only after he has been found guilty by the courts.

WTF is wrong with R.L. White and the NAACP? I've been wondering that my damn self. They're turning this into a racial issue when it would have been more appropriate for the NAACP to not get involved at all. Dog fighting is illegal because is constitutes one of the worst forms of animal cruelty, which is a FELONY in most states. Basically, Michael Vick is a vile, twisted, undefendable bastard and he deserves to rot in jail. He gets kicked out of the NFL? Sucks for him.

The NAACP needs to be more concerned with gang violence, drug abuse, teen pregnancy, poverty, and promoting education; not supporting spoiled athletes and celebrities who should know better. The NAACP hasn't done a damn thing to advance the cause of people of color for almost 30 years, yet they wonder why they are having recruitment problems. What I want to know is what have they done for me lately?

Vick should never be let back in anything! He needs to be in jail. Period! As far as the NAACP goes, everything is a black/white issue to them. If it can be made into a issue at all, it's going to be racial. Bet on it.

I promise, I'm not trying to be racist, but the only reason he is defending Michael Vick is because Michael's black. If Michael was white, do you think anyone would stand up for him and say that he is only being charged because he's white and that someone is out to get him? No, they wouldn't. Poor poor Michael Vick. Someone is saying that he killed dogs in his home, just because he's black. Poor man. There's no proof or anything, right?
WRONG!!!!! There is proof! AND he is pleading guilty!!! He wouldn't plead guilty if he didn't do it.

This is the problem with the NAACP. They are nothing more than a group who perpetuates the black victimhood. They defend all blacks instead of setting standards of acceptible behavior. They are completely useless in helping blacks become successful

Coming out and defending Vick on this one is about as dumb as it gets. Your comments are bang on.
