Far_side: I disagree with method when there are vlasses with good students who are make effort to learn with bad students who just don't give flying crap about education. why in hell good students should suffer. if bad students don't like to study, go and WORK, find a job that suits you and make money.

Jill: private school, not public school. Parents are responsible for child education, outside of school. same as teachers +[arents in school to help child.

The politicians have changed our constitution to where, what, every way they can! When I was in elementary school their was a clause if government. Well the people could change it! Gone! These assholes in congress & senate should not be allowed to run for office forever! That is the problem! We are all left with the same people in office! Hell I could name a ton! The american people need to get off their a** and see what is going on! Will not happen we have become complancint with things. What you say would be great! Wont happen unless the people take over and vote! Get those oldtimers out, we need new blood if we want change! It is way past time for setting the priorities right. Thats my 2 cents and my sense is free!

I am against public schools, or at least public schools with no competition. I believe that you should be issued credits for your children to be used at either a public school of your choosing, or a private school of your choosing. As more and more people choose private education (which has been proven to work better than public education) public schools will be forced to either step up their efforts or be shut down. The average cost of educating a child in public school is $3,000 per month. Most private schools charge less than that. Also, those without children should be exempt from school taxes.
Oh and before you make the argument that "society is better for having more educated youth so you are taxed because you benefit from it" that's a load of bull. Otherwise we wouldn't have the issues we do with poor schools, teen gangs, and so on. Pit any private school educated person against a public school educated person and the private school kid will turn out better educated hands down.

What's wrong with making sure that our children can actually read before they are promoted to the next grade level. My son is in the fourth grade in Santa Rosa County Florida. He attends a National Blue Ribbon School. He had to pass the F-CAT before he was promoted to the 4th grade. Basically if he failed even though he was an A student he would not be promoted. Well he reads at an 8th grade level and was promoted. The idea of the F-CAT was put in place for high school students that were receiving passing grades in reading so that they could continue to participate in Football. Now if you don't pass you don't play and you don't get promoted. Anyway, I don't disagree with Mrs. Bush passion for educating the youth in America.
So basically what type of job do you think a high school drop out will qualify for? Basically your way of thinking is promoting the welfare system and a socialist economy. Just because things are hard we should not teach our children to quit. If you do that you are continuing to perpetuate the exsistance of a generation that as you put "just doesn't give a damn", and why should they if they are going to be bailed out by our already over taxed tax payer.

Politically correctness, I say it is not as practical as intended, and a farce in the least. No child left behind, well if we all were truthful and honorable then we wouldn't have to even mention it because no child should be left behind. It's all so rediculous...

I believe that the system is f*cked from square 1. You cant really fix it, unless you destroy it and rebuild, or not even rebuild.
