I am living in Germany and will be driving over to the UK next month.
Since I will be out and about with a German car, I am looking on the internet for a conversion chart -

Kilometers per hour to Miles per hour...

Can anyone tell me where I can find such a chart??

A friend got someone to hack into your myspace account to snoop around behind your back? I feel violated that she would get someone to look through my personal stuff and like the same guy might be able to get into my email accounts and bank details. Should I be upset about it or am I over-reacting?

This has never before been an issue, as the moon has been well beyond our reach. However when our ingenuity gives us the option of traveling to the moon and our desperation for resourcess (energy in this case) gives us the incentive, it opens up an ethical question. The moon is of great importance to all life on earth, it is important to all cultures and even sacred to some religions. If someone claims legal ownership of the moon, and intend to exploit it to their gain, there will be people who will object to it. This is a very different case of claiming land than what it was in the age of colonisation, when the first superpowers conquered land by sticking their flag onto it irrespective of the natives living there. The moon is deserted of life, but there is no place on earth where it cannot be seen. That makes it, in my eyes, common property to everyone. We should set the rules regarding the moons ownership soon. I suggest leaving it alone and designating it as a world heritage site.

Can anyone please help us? My husband has been offered a job in UK for 3500 pounds per month. He is an IT analyst. But the thing is that we don’t know anything about UK. Can anyone please tell us about the cost of living in UK? We have no children and are not planning any in the near future. And once my husband gets the job can I work too? What are the cheapest rents that we can get for the cheapest house? How much money will we need on food monthly? MOST IMPORTANT....How much will be the tax on this 3500 salary? What will be the electricity, water, and other bills? What will be our major expenses?
Your answers will be much appreciated, and will help us make the most important decision in our life. Please do answer

what is it that is so interesting about mega disasters that americans seem glued to the television when they are on? they are played again and again, and watched religiously again and again. does anyone other than me find this mega disaster thing a little nauseating?

we have shows on:

1. a sudden star burst sending gamma rays to hit the earth, pulling everything to exponential pieces...

2. the theoretical black hole in the center of the milky way getting closer and closer to the earth, meaning that the earth will be sucked in...

3. the sun exploding all of a sudden, with no previous warning of it...

4. the earth being thrown off its orbit, thereby turning the earth onto an exactly opposite axis, meaning that the poles would all of a sudden be near the equator, but that all the land masses would be at the poles...

5. parts of the earth collapsing into the oceans via mega earthquakes that will come upon us so quickly that 3/4 of the (CONTINUED BELOW):

OK, this is a bit of a strange question. I really just want opinions from different interesting perspectives. What exactly causes "atmosphere"? I mean when it is Saturday night and you are 18 years old, and you are ready to have fun, there is that feeling in the air....what causes that? Or how would you explain it? Or as an adult, when something is bothering my wife I can tell, without verbal indications. There is just something in the air. Please give any explanation you may have!

Science is moving in that direction. Every year more and more animals are found capable of _making_ tools, suffering of depression, having "regional dialects," etc.

Would it make any difference to you?

An Example... A white woman in a question 'Do mexicans look like filipinos' replied with "They all look like humans to me"

The question wasnt even questioning if they are human or not.The woman is obviously so scared of issues of race and appearance that she over compensates with that. Of course we all look like humans, but we look different too. Unless you're twins.

Why reply with that message? Are you so afraid of being called a racist that you hide behind that answer whenever it comes up?

So are you whites just hiding from the issue or do you really see a black and white next to each other and think "Oh wow they look like twins"?

After reading comments to certain questions (mainly racial, sexual and religious) if come across so many people who are so judgemental about other's beliefs and lifestyles. Why is this? I've seen everything from gay bashing, to Christians passing judgement, to athiests calling believers in God idiots. Please don't post any immature comments. I really want to know why it is so hard to be accepting of all types of HUMANS.

I'm doing some research for several different projects. I need help finding some good sites or books to do this.

1)Institutions, asylums, etc from the first half of the 20th century and before. I need information on what they were like, treatments, and who was sent there. Also, if you have any local ones that are still around, atleast the building and know some history on it, that would be great!

2)Magic. I'm looking for some sort of black magic, voodoo, whatever that people would have used before 1950 (going as far back as necessary) that would supposedly, somehow, bring together past and present. Or present and future. Not necessarily time travel, but more of an awareness through dreams, psychic visions or something.

3)Medicine, herbal remedies, home remedies etc. What I'm looking for is something used in the first half of the last century that people would have used to cure an illness but in reality the medicine was harmful. No, I'm not planning on using this.

why are people asked to specify their race when they want to register their kids in a school in the USA? Who cares . The thing is some people can't check mark any of the option given because they just don't fit in any category . Is asking people colour for school is hiding a kind of discrimination?

So many women I know, like me cause I am so "intelligent". Honestly I read a lot and talk a lot in lectures. I'd much rather have a girl who is more intelligent then me, then the other way around. Maybe I'm being silly, maybe I should get over it and go with it.
