What is your fave retro product? 70's 80's or 90's, whatever?

When my brother and I got an Atari (the old cartridge version), our house was king of the estate :) I also remember deelyboppers, cola cubes, BBC micros and that jarring noise they made when loading (our school had TWO of them!), and the test card on telly (where on earth did they get that picture??)

While we are on the subject, does anyone remember the Zegazoid? It was like a poor man's Wham Bar, it was green&black, cost 5p and very very chewy :p I have only met a few people who remember them.....

Oh, to be a kid again lol :)

When I went to the Starbucks location below, I was treated very rudely, and was segregated against. I was standing in line, and the manager decided to first help the Caucasian family behind me. At that time, I didn't really think much about it, but after I began working there, the racism got out of control.. I was working there with one other Caucasian man in the beginning. The manager would allow him to sit with the other manage (Marcella), and her friends having free coffee (even if it was the busiest time of day). This is when i didn't have my own code to the cash register, and wasn't able to help the customers' efficiently. I would have to call the manager, while she came to me making faces.
I would have to sweep/mop, clean the counters, and wash the dishes, when the Caucasian guy would have the luxury of making the drinks (and leaving the mess there. I never gave anyone a chance to complain, but soon after they found two other Caucasian people, they (very rudely) fired me.
Recently, when I went to Tom thumb, I saw that they only had caucasian people working, and no colored people..

Everything that we as a society teach our kids to believe in (ie. Santa Claus, Tooth Fairy, Magic etc.) doesn't exist in this world.
Why do we get caught up in all of the lies? I believe it follows us into adulthood, how many people do you know that are HONEST AS THE DAY IS LONG?

i have lived in america my whole life and have recently went to india for the first time...i didn't have a good time-it is really different from America. I stayed in Punjab (Sikh parents) and saw different cultures which i did enjoy. I was just surprised at some things with society, like how women go to college and don't get a job right after they finish college and just wait to get marry. Also, i was shocked that married couples live at home with their parents and share no love for each other. My cousin had a love marriage with a hindu and they are nice but they live with my aunt at home so my cousin-in-law and aunt always fight.
So i am asking all of the Indians, what do you like or dislke about your indian culture...what do you want to change and how how would your parents respond? (thoughts on arranged marriages, customs)
Also, next time i come to india, i want to go clubing, but i don't know if their are any good clubs in Punjab...where should i go and what should i watch for?

and things being 'pimped out'. whats up with everything needing to be 'pimped out'? if these rappers had such a rough life, why don't they use all of that money they're making to help out the kids in the situation they were raised in? wouldn't that make sense? if my pops beat me growing up, if i struck it rich, i'd build a battered women and childrens shelter in my local neighborhood at the very least.

On TV and in magazines, you seldom see a dark-skinned black person. Our culture is still being led to believe that having lighter skin somehow makes you a better person.

Black people with lighter skin get treated better; I believe this discrepancy stems from the days of slavery. In general, dark-skinned blacks labored in the fields while light-skinned blacks worked indoors. Slave owners and even slaves gave lighter-skinned blacks more respect. This segregation of shades within the same race is a serious problem.

Colorism has always been an issue for the black community. In the past, some black social clubs and societies only allowed those who had light skin.

I'm sure a lot of people would disagree with me, but I'm getting fed up with all the beggers. At least once a day someone is at the front door asking for money and they are getting angry when you refuse to give them anything. On the street it's the same they are getting more and more agressive. I wish there were a law forbidding people to beg. I always buy the Big Issue and I'm not talking about charity.

You know what I mean (I hope) - messing with other cultures; invasions; unnecessary makeovers; indiscriminately reinterpreting the classics/ the historical; straightening curly hair; making small chests big; whitening dark skin; messing with the priesthood; messing with religions and traditions; messing with childhood and trying to shorten it; deliberately blurring the lines between fact and fiction etc, etc.

I hope you were able to answer and you were able to understand it. Thanks.
