A lot of the answers on here are things people find by searching. Why can't the askers just use a search engine instead of posting on here?

I totally agree with you... I suppose it's because some people might not be good at using search engines or don't have the time to look through the results. But even that has a solution: chacha.com - the search engine that provides a LIVE search guide to help you narrow down the results to exactly what you are looking for. You just tell the guide what you want to find and the guide does all of the searching!

http://www.chacha.com - just type in what you want to find and click "search with guide" - it's that simple!

people like getting opinions from different people. Also, using a search engine could take a long time as it is very difficult to narrow your search down. Here, you can just ask a question and get a straight answer.

I'm sure if someone is in dire need for an answer and in a hurry, they will search for it.

I agree with you. There are obviously some questions motivated by a desire to get other people's perspectives and opinions, but I don't understand why people ask questions like: "OMG, WHO ROTE MOBY DIK 4 REAL MY FREND SAYZ IT WAS DANYELL STEEL IS THAT TRU???" Wouldn't it be less effort to take a trip to Amazon? Wikipedia?

Sometimes they want an answer from a real person with real opinions, as opposed to a more technical answer from a website, I suppose.
