You could still get detected, but one trick is to go in relaxed, by having a valium or something, so when they ask the "jolt" question, you won't spike.
But these guys are good and could potentially nail you.

You should take the test wherever you are told to take it. If you have that much to hide I would suggest praying before the test. Sorry, not possible to pass a lie detector test with lies.
Maybe you could just come clean and tell the truth--makes for a much happier life. Good Luck.

Lie detector tests have no basis in science. There is no valid research to show that they are any better at detecting lies than tossing a coin. If someone requests that you take such a test you should refuse. They are not admissible in court simply because they are junk science with no proof that they work.

the test is generally available only if you commit a crime & are at the police station... and there are some private people who own polygraph machines that you can hire. they appear on howard stern and other radio shows.
the way to cheat a lie detector is the following...
they ask you "baseline" questions like "what is your name" and "where did you grow up" During these questions, pinch yourself very hard or bite your tounge...cause a strong neurophysiological reaction (and spike on the graph).
Why? Well, they compare your response to these questions to the later questions like "did you kill that person" - Normally, the response to a lie would be a big spike on the graph - but if you spike on every question, then they can't conclude you are lying.
