de bossy one you say oil is an excuse then what is the difference between that and a cause? It means the same thing.
You could say religion is the excuse and oil is the cause.

.....it's because it's not human nature to accept fault... especially if that fault is being the reason of a number of innocent deaths and therefore religion comes into place.
.... it's man who creates wars, not religion....so for heaven's sake! Bush, Blair, Bin Laden and the rest of the gang are stupid retarted loosers ....the sooner they accept they're wrong the better.....
and for all you people out there who think religion causes wars... your wrong! hah! take that! =p

Religion is the cause of many wars because many religions teach that it is the only religion and it can not co-exist with other religions. The Crusades are the most common example. However, religion is not the only possible cause of war, economics can be a cause, so can human rights, and so can natural resources. And, as I am sure you know, some people can state one reason is the cause of war when they know they are fighting for some other reason.

Just because this most recent war is possibly over oil, it doesn't mean all other wars were. A lot of wars have been over territory, and a lot of wars have been caused by religion.

religion does cause wars. check your history! many, many conflicts that result in war have at their base religious differences! and that problem is caused by the fact that despite all their preaching, each religion seems to have no tolerance of any but their own. Crude oil a religion? No, just a necessity.

if you know anything about history, nearly all wars ever fought were over religion. oil is an excuse, religion is the cause of war in the middle east.

I don't know about you but I worship Oil. What has Jesus done for me lately? Nothing. But Oil? Oh boy, oil can fuel my car, I can use it to pain pictures and I can even use it to make a nice vinaigrette.
