My 8-year-old was complaining that she's not allowed to say it--uere? Something like that?--or "geil" and I assume I should have reacted less calmly than I did. (I know what's wrong with "geil".)

If you are able to answer this, please excuse my potty-mouth! Thanks!

For example Paris - the French pronounce this Paree. Other examples that spring to mind are - Rome/Roma, Munich/Munchen, Venice/Venezia and Germany/Deutschland. Ok, possibly some names would be hard for the English tongue to accurately reproduce, but we could try, couldn't we?

I need to put this greeting into German:
I've checked it thru 2 dictionaries and the output differ one from another.

"Hey Today, All day, Just for you,
A special wish to someone
Who gives and cares
Who laughs and loves
Shares and listens
And touches so many hearts...
A special wish for you
Dear Friend"

I want to know what the correct usage of 'let alone' is. For example:
I was so sleepy that I didn't even notice someone entered my room, let alone noticing he was my father. ( or let alone to notice....)
or
I was too tired to climb up the rock, let alone having a burden on my shoulders. ( or Should i say let alone to have a burden ...?)
It doesn't seem correct. What should I have said?

I know how to write in hiragana and katakana but i'm pretty weak on the grammar, so if anyone can help me, I would really appreciate it. Thank you in advance. :)

How do you say these lines in Japanese:
1.) I am an only child
2.) My mom and dad are separated when I was very young
3.) I am quite ok with it though.
4.) In fact, it doesn't bother me at all.
5.) So now, both my mom and dad have remarried but they don't have any children other than me.
6.) This leaves me with 2 mom's and 2 dad's now, but it's cool.
7.) Aside from this, I have so many relatives in both sides of the family and our clan is tightly knit.
8.) All in all, to sum it up, I love my family and can't imagine having any other family at all.

I have just started reading english novels "Jane Eyre", I've seen it's movie. In the first chapter I looked at dictionary for every word. It made me leave the book aside after 2 pages.
I usually read fast in my native language and also technical english but I don't know how to read english novels.
Do I need to find words's meaning every time? or find the words at the end of each reading to improve my vocabulary?

I also bought "sense and sensibility", I'll read that after this book.
any suggestion would be great for reading and any new materials

Just read through it and tell me if you see anything thats obviously wrong:

El peor día de mi vida fue el día que mi mejor amigo me dijo que él era homosexual. Su nombre es Nathan y lo conocí en el campamento de verano en 2002. Me dijo en 2005 y yo estaba muy triste porque él estaba mi novio. Estuve su disfraz y sus padres lo creyeron.
Esa noche, Nathan me llamó a las nueve y hablamos tres horas. Después, lloré hasta la madrugada. No supe que decirle. Pensé que nos amabamos pero quizas me equivoquè. A veces, deseo nunca haberlo conocido. Él me dijo que su supervisor del trabajo era su novio. Él me mentía por tres años. Creo su novio es un pedófilo pervertido.
El año pasado, Nathan me dijo que dejó de ser gay pero no lo creo. Quiero creerse. No creo porque el verano pasado se vi con un hombre. Nathan me dijo que el hombre era solo un amigo, pero no lo creo. Ahora, no me hable y se añoro como el desierto añora la lluvia.

I need help translating/understanding these 2 sentences....

En estos casos no se trata de duda ni de verosimilitud; sabemos que los pajaros y las hormigas y los osos no son seres humanos. Sera por lo tanto el titubeo lo que sea el elemento indispensable para la literatura fantastica.

I would especially like to know the traduccion mejor por "se trata."

Muchas Gracias!

I switched congregations with my religion to help with the spanish in our area... and I took spanish in high school, but I still have such a hard time. What has helped anyone who is now successful at speaking this language? Any ideas or suggestions are appreciated. And I don't want to pay for a tutor of some sort or buy some program off the internet.

There are a broad spectrum of reactions to the fact that English is becomming adopted universally. I you had to choose a language to become the new lingua franca, would English be your first choice? If not, which would you choose? Please give reasons for the language of your choice. (Is it clear, beautiful, easy to learn, easy to pronounce, able to describe complex thoughts, visual, emotional, etc.)

Personally I would choose the African language with all the click sounds so I could beatbox and speak at the same time.

I said:
"Él me dijo que su supervisor de trabajo estaba su novio. Mintió por tres años. El año pasado, Nathan me dijo que él dejó siendo gay."

I want to say:
"He told me that his supervisor at work was his boyfriend. He lied for three years. Last year, Nathan told me that he stopped being gay."

I know these are very random sentences but im trying to write my spanish composition. it's due tomorrow. :(

Please let me know if Spanish is your mother tongue or not.

I've been thinking and what happened last night really scared me. I had no idea what happened at work and I did not understand why you would be upset because nothing had happened. All of our fights are over silly misunderstandings, and when I said I was tired, I meant I was tired of feeling like you did not ever want to talk. I am sorry it did not come out the way I wanted it to. When you told me that you wanted to break up, and that it would be better, my heart broke inside. I'm sorry I didn't let you go when you wanted to leave. The reason I was so persistent was because I do love you and I don't want to lose you. I need you, and when you told me to continue to be happy I knew I couldn't without you. But seriously, if for some reason you feel you would want anymore with me, please tell me. I don't want you to feel any pressure from me and I don't want you to feel like you have to be with me. I want you to be with me because you want to. I was so sad and hurt yesterday
