What?? I had to laugh at one of these postings..Tito and Tita are filipino words??? So sorry..no they are not. I am a Spaniard. And in Southern Spain we call Aunts Titas and Uncles Titos. And the Filipinos got it from the Andalucian conquistadores. Man I hate when people do not do their history. Come on..why do you think there are so many spanish words in some Filipino Dialects..was it not because of the Spanish?

Everyone is correct in saying that "tìo" is for "uncle" and "tìa is for "aunt."

And, "Tito" is a name (For Titus), but also a diminutive (for the diminutives) of many male names (think how a baby would say a name). Ex: Roberto---> Robertito---> Tito

Also, I grew up calling my grandparents "tito" and "tita" as diminutives for
abuelo---> abuelito---> tito
abuela---> abuelita---> tita
