How long did it take you to get used to the alphabet and not have to translate every later into English to understand a word?
Right now I'm teaching myself Russian and it seems like so far the only way I can memorize a word is by seeing it in English. I try reading as much in the Russian alphabet as I can but I can't memorize any word because the letters and the words themselves are so new to me are so new to me.

Should I learn Russian using the English alphabet then move onto using the Russian alphabet so I at least know the words?

Have you ever pretend that you don't know English, but you actually do?
Sometimes I pretend that I don't speak English to avoid small talks. Also great when dealing with undesirable suitors. :P

I know that in French adjectives go after nouns, apart from a few exceptions, but what about other European languages? Is English the only European language where adjectives precede the noun?

Hi friends,

I really need to improve my English due to the fact that I want to work as a steward. I think my pronunciation and vocabulary is alright, but I have problems with the grammar. I can just write or talk in the normal past tense, present tense and futur form.

E.g. its not easy for me to understand when I have to use one of those 7 future forms (i will be going to - i will - i am going to .... and so on) . In German I dont mention which tense I take - I just talk.

So I dont know if it is needed to learn this stuff, or maybe it is not so important in the first to handle those many tenses.

What do you think? What is important, whats not? On what should I focus if I want to improve language for beeing steward?

Thank you :-)

I need help from anyone who actually knows the language. I used a free translation service I found online and it gave me this: אח
(if you can't see the characters, it's the "khet" followed by the "alef")
So, my question is, is this a correct translation, and if not, what is the word I'm looking for? Thank you in advance!
