Katie, it is worrying if you really have no clue "what is Serbia", but one thing you did right, wrote the country name with a capital letter. You can have a look at Yahoo Maps and see where is situated the Balkan peninsula.

Serbia is a country in Southern, around where Croatia, Montenegro, and if you don't know where those countries are, then Serbia is east of Italy. The official language is Serbian, or Serbo-Croatian. The languages are almost the same.

I'm guessing you are young and therefore it is perfectly reasonable to ask this.

Serbia is a country in the south east of Europe. It has a very long history during which is has been subsumed by many other collections of countries but is no independent.
