I know following languages which are read from right to left unlike English:
1. Urdu (Arabic)
2. Hebrew
3. Sindhi
And I know Japanese is read from top to bottom (columns rather than rows of text).
How many and which all languages are thus different to English?

I read a book explaining some of the aspects of Trinidadian speach where the author noted that, for instance, pronouncing father (high pitch-low pitch) and father (low pitch-high pitch) results in different meanings. One would be used to signify a position in a religious institution while the other somebody's parent. I am curious about the various patternings and manifestations of these kind of phenomena in the creole dialects found throughout the caribbean, and also I am wondering how it might be represented symbolically/orthographically for non-native speakers.

Is it pronounced as if in Spanish, with the "ll" being pronounced like a "y"? Or is it different in Catalan (which I don't speak) - for example, is the "ll" simply pronounced like an "l"?

Does everybody in Spain pronounce the name of the restaurant the same way, or do the Catalan speakers get it right and the non-Catalan speakers get it wrong?

A friend from London was complaining about Apple always having their software in American English without an option for British English. Are there a lot of differences and does it annoy the Brits?
