...and seeing a lot of debate on there... is the word 'spelt' unique to England? (As in the past tense for 'spell'?) I've seen people saying the word spelt is not a real word and I guess it's one not used in the USA and other English-speaking places.
Anyone have any info on this? The word is found at dictionary.com.

How many Irish here can people can speak their native language fluently?
I spent 8 years in primary school, 5 years in Secondary, and aced the Irish Leaving Cert...but I still can't have even the most basic conversation with someone speaking in Irish...
How bad is that?
I'm not alone though, most of my friends and family are the same...
How is it possible that so many people fail to grasp the language when it has been a constant subject throughout their primary and secondary education?

OK so im supposed to translate this letter aboout Mnt. Vesuvius by Pliny. Im almost done with the letter but i have a few paragraphs that i just cant completly figure out...do you know what any os the lines mean???

iubet naves parari; mihi copiam eundi facit. respondi estudere me malle. tum accipit litteras cuiusdam muliers periculo territae. navem ascendit ut non illi mulieri modo sed multis auxilium ferret. properat illuc unde alii fugiunt rectunque cursum in periculum tenet, tam solutus timore ut omina visa enotaret.

iam navibus cinis densior incindebat, iam pumices etiam nigrique lapides. c*um gubernator moneret ut retro flecteret, "fortes," inquit, "fortuna iuvat." udi ad litus venit, amicum vidit. eum territur hortatur. tum in balneum it et postea ad cenam, aut hilaris similis hilari.

Anything that yoy can provide me with helps =_
