As someone else said, these sites really only give you the gist of a text and NOT a perfect translation e.g. typing "je mange un avocat" (I am eating an avocado) into a french-english online translator results in "I am eating a lawyer"..... (avocat has two meanings and the online translator just uses the most common one, without considering the context of the sentence)

Must warn you though that they are not accurate, and are only really useful for getting the idea of what text means. An example is when my friend typed in 'radiator' and got back 'heating elements'...
