If there was no language, no words, no speech and the only way to 'communicate' was through icons. What would the icon be to communicate 'Survival' so that everyone in the world would know what that symbol/icon meant.

I'm writing a screenpart for a Valley Girl character (non-profit video script) - does anyone have any really silly or funny Valley Girl quotes I can use (or even bits of dialogue)?

When I say valley girl, I mean the US/Kirsten/ ohmagodddd!, like totally speak and not the Welsh valleys banter about Brains SA and Walkers crisps.

Cheers,
bw

It is been seen that the countries which has kept there own customs, traditions and languages intact have progressed more than others. France, Germany, China, Russia, Italy, Spain etc are the few examples were people still feel proud and speak their own national langauage.
Then why we as an Indians more of South Indians feel shy or hate speaking in Hindi?

is it because they feel threatened by the spanish language because it has 5 words for each one english word to convey the same message or mean the same thing? one note: if one learns spanish one will automatically understand its culture & be able to compete for bilingual job requirements, thus you hit three birds with one stone. isnt that a triple asset? keeping in mind that spanish is here to stay (it is not going elsewhere).

I was listening to some 80s and 90s music on the radio the other day and they played "Macarena". What exactly does that mean? I looked it up on some translation sites, but it just translated as "Macarena". Is it someone's name? Thanx.

Besides the people who will respond with something like, "I don't know.. I've never heard an american attempting to speak my language.."

I am an american, and I can read and write numerous languages. I just have a slight fear that my speech in these languages is unintelligable, or that my american accent is too thick. It's probably just paranoia..

Honestly, though, if you heard an american (who was somewhat fluent) speaking to you in your language, what would you think? I know this question may be difficult to answer, as other variables may need to be considered. But in general, would you consider the american accent to be (insert word here- example: harsh, pleasant, etc.)?

Thank you.
