You have put up a brilliant question.
American accents differ widely as do the English.
I personally think that Joanna Lumley has the voice of an angel, its NOT posh. It has perfect modulation with brilliant vowell sounds and is a lovely thing to listen to.

The standard American accent is very attractive too in its 'purest' form, but I do like the southern drawl as well. The New York accent is distinctly different from
say chicago, with different regional slang and everything else. On balance I like the standard English accent ......the educated kind Joanna speaks.
p.s. If you can talk like her then the whole world will open up for you. Susie on BB spoke well too. A rare thing these days I may add.
