I understand that the hi hao is hello, but what is "wei" they will repeat this word over and over again until someone answers... with almost no time to answer back.

Can you please tell me 5-10 badwords in French, along with their translations in English. Could be even little words like stupid, etc or heavy duty ones.

Even though 99% of what I've been reading for the last 3 years was in English and I've been living and working in an english-speaking environment for the last three years, I still read 2x faster in French than in English.

Is it just me or is it typical of a second language? Could it be that English has a higher "semantic density" than French?

I've been trying to speak like the British and some of my friends think I actually did come from UK. But to some, they're more focused on proving me wrong with certain pronounciations. And other times, people would ignore everything I say everytime I use it. Aren't I entitled to say anything I want in any accent I choose?

... legasthenia and languages which are written from right to left (Arabic, Hebrew, (?))

* Why are some languages written in the "wrong" (I know that it isn´t wrong) direction?
* Do legasthenia occur significantly more or less often than in countries which use the Latin or Cyrillic alphabet?
* Are here more left-handed people in Arabian countries or Israel?

(I don´t really know what came first - the chicken or the egg??)

My husband and I relocated to Fribourg, Switzerland almost two months ago. I'm trying to learn French and am booked on an intensive summer course to start soon, but it would be nice to meet people who can speak my own language and/or who could help me with my French. We're in our early 30s and don't have kids.

It's from a song by Kate Ryan that I love, and I know what the words mean individually, but I do not know if it means "my heart resists again" or "my heart still resists." Either way, it doesn't make much sense, and I am wondering if there is a lesser-known, less-obvious translation for 'résister.'
