There's no "offical" language for the United States, but people obviously say that we do (English). But with all of the Spanish speakers, do you think that it's likely for Spanish to offically become our "2nd language" (some even consider it to already be offical today)?

I bought some beads that had Chinese writing on them and I would like to find out what they say. I've always wanted to know what some of the Asian stuff says but never had a way of asking anyone. I'm 90% sure this is Chinese charters so if anyone could look at the links below and tell me what they say I'd be eternally grateful!

Please give population estimates and preferably cite a source, ranking is unnecessary.

"Acabo de comprar uno igualpara mi baño!!"

Someone left that comment on one of my Flickr photos, and I'm really curious as to what it says. I've tried using online translators, but the translation didn't make any sense.

I have been reading so many post and was wondering what is happening to our ability to use proper english. Reading all the miss-spellings was like listening to a band out of key.

And these are probably the same people I turn down as employees simply because i cannot have their lack of skills and intelligence representing me and my company. I am sorry, but no way.

The decline in ability during the last 4 decades has been incredible and I wonder just what happened. I do not attribute it to computers and spell checkers either. I think it goes much deeper than that.

Everything in this world is in a constant communication buzz with everything else. Being fluent in as many languages as possible would seem to be an extremely valuable gift asset to have.

What about you? Who or what are you presently able to communicate with? Who or what would you *like* to be able to communicate with? (All languages - verbal.. animal.. symbolic.. - are game).
