I used to think of the stereotypical media-projected image of some inbred from the 'hollers, ' but then I moved to the South for university and ended up staying for 12 years. How wrong I was...I think that the southern accent is very sexy --- especially from NC foothills.

I think of a polite culture. I grew up in the south and moved to the north- how I miss the good manners of southerners!!

Fond memories of sweet tea, the best ribs and fried chicken, rocking chairs on the front porch with ceiling fans humming above, sticky humid weather and hospitable, friendly people.

I am southern, so I don't "hear" the accent. I hear other accents though, and think they're cool.
