... legasthenia and languages which are written from right to left (Arabic, Hebrew, (?))

* Why are some languages written in the "wrong" (I know that it isn´t wrong) direction?
* Do legasthenia occur significantly more or less often than in countries which use the Latin or Cyrillic alphabet?
* Are here more left-handed people in Arabian countries or Israel?

(I don´t really know what came first - the chicken or the egg??)

Writing from right to left rather than left to right grew out of the fact that the ancient writing, after the ones baked on clay tablets, was on scrolls. By writing from right to left, it was easier to write on the scroll because the roll was to the left which was more convenient for a right hand person to use.

Additional, the left side of the body has been considered since antiquity as being the evil or sinister side of the body (Sinestra, in Latin) so anyone writing from left to right would be forming their words from the evil side towards the good side and this would not have good overtones. It is also why, in many cultures, left handed children are changed over to using their right hands to write, eat or whatever.

Arabic alphabets are circular, curvy, have sharp turns & long ends. (beautiful & artistic). writing alphabet from left to right on clay would lead to deep dents & scrapes and tearing when written on paper. Thats the reason why alphabet & the script is written from right to left for smooth flow.
what 'captmhunt' has written is a insight for me, thanks!

As to which came first, chicken or the egg.
Observe, the rooster and an egg in bed together.
The rooster is sitting up with a cigarette in his beak, with a huge smile.

Any questions?
