Happy Eid ul-Fitr (عيد الفطر) all Muslim colleagues! Eid ul-Fitr is a joyous occasion with important religious significance, celebrating of the achievement of enhanced piety. It is a day of forgiveness, moral victory, peace of congregation, fellowship, brother(sister)hood and unity.

Please tell me, how would you celebrate Eid? Do you know that New York's iconic Empire State Building is to be lit up green in honor of Eid starting 2007?

Finally, Minal Aidzin Wal Faidzin (forgive my physical and emotional wrongdoings) and Eid Mubarak again to all Muslims! Cheers!

I need help. I am a new convert and need help with prayers. How do I know what to pray for Fajr,Sunrise, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib and Isha ? I know that the prayers are similar, but how do I know what to skip and what not, because I know that some of them are longer than others, please help. Is there a guide out there on the internet that has a transliteration to all of this prayers?

My mom called today n we were talking... she asked me if I knew this girl that's around my own age... I said yes she's a very good girl (thought they want her for my bro!)...

And then my mom dropped this huge news on me that she was in a car accident on Qadr night... (23rd)... n died right on the scene!

She was very nice n sweet... n too good for this cruel world I guess... Sayyed n a descendant of the Prophet... n my mom said there wasn't enough room at her funeral... she had so many who loved her...

Long story short... could u plz read a Fatiha for this young life cut short? And could u plz pray for her family, specially her mom? cz her mom has aged about 20 years since the night of the accident...

She was going to graduate from college in about two months…

tnx...

rapist and how many of you if you are married or were to get married would divorce your wife if she was raped and got pregnant by the rapist? I'm just curious because my husband told me that it's an option for the woman who is raped in Islam to marry the rapist. Also if a Muslim woman is raped and gets pregnant what happens to the baby? Does it go into the custody of the rapist or his family or is she allowed to get custody of it? I'm asking because I'm just curious about this and I would like to know how the child would be treated by the Muslim community if it was the product of a rape.

Last night some guy asked what was my religion because he sees my head scarf and I answered Islam, so he starts going on and on, on why so radical change, since I just reverted to Islam (by choice). Then he said that muslims we are so honored dying and killing people for Allah. So I explained to him that, those who do this are not true followers of Islam and they will be condemned. And made him realize he had made a mistake critizising harsh. Anyway I left and today I came back and my desk was decorated with Happy Birthday ribbons (I turned 23 today) my friends did this for me. So I have been sitting here all day long people greeting me, and then he came and said happy birthday and extended his hand to to shake mine. And I totally so forgot in that moment and didn't think about it, that a woman is not to touch a man or viceversa if they are not mahraam. I did it because I was taught to shake people hands as greetings, and this time it went over my head. Is this a bad sin or something?

Today [ Tuesday,20th Ramadan /// 2nd October] .. in Egypt
is the starting day of the
~*~ LAST 10 DAYS OF RAMADAN ~*~

and Today ...... is the ~*~ First ODD NIGHT ~*~

so... just a reminder :
Though all days of Ramadan are full of blessings and rewards, its last ten days hold a special status reflected in the recommendations and practices of the Messenger of Allah, Muhammad [ salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam], and his companions.

so, all of us should try HARD to benefit from these last 10 days:
*Praying taraweeh .... as well as ... tahajod
*Performing I`tikaf in the Masjid (seclusion in the Mosque)
[for men ....... if possible]
*Seeking Laylatul-Qadr (the Night of Decree)

We pray to Allah All Mighty Most Merciful to bless us this Ramadan by witnessing Laylatul-Qadr

If you have an (obviously) important exam during Ramadan, would that be a valid reason to miss a day of fasting and make it up after?

Asalamualaikum.
In this holy month of Ramadan, I have tried to increase my worship of Allah (SWT). I pray Salaat as I do all year round, I pray Taraweeh, dhikr and I have been reciting alot of Quran because I am trying to finish it in this blessed month.
But the problem is I have been getting ALOT of negative thoughts and worries. Some nights I have bad dreams too. I know I trust in Allah (SWT) 110% but these negative thoughts and worries still keep haunting me. Could it be shaitan trying to distract me from worshipping Allah (SWT) by giving me these negative thoughts and worries?? What can I do to make them go away??

Hi. I would like to know how I would go about getting my 7 year old sister to perform Hajj when she gets her first period. What I mean is that her father is not Muslim and I know that her father has to sign a paper giving his consent for her to travel to Saudi Arabia for Hajj. Does anyone know if I could get her into Saudi on a Hajj visa without the paper singed by her father because he will never allow her to go the Middle East. Our brother is 5 so of course he can't give his permission to go on Hajj. The reason I want to take her on Hajj is because this will be the only time she will probably ever get to do it. And I want it done and out of the way for her. Any knowledge from brothers or sisters who have gone on Hajj before or have any useful info apprecated. Shukran.

I am catholic, yet I study Islam. I am thinking of converting. I went to myspacechat, the catholic chat room. I just wanted to talk about Islam. You would not believe how people responded.
They think Prophet Mohammed is a joke. They talked so ignorant about God, and the mother Mary. They made violent, sexual remarks about her, and God!
It is very sad.
I also try to talk to my family about Islam. Yet they don't care to know anything. My husband is Muslim. So I talk with his family about Islam. It is just sad that my family doesn't want to know about it. This is something I am proud to talk about, and they just won't hear of it. My mom is a good person though. We have had a really hard time growing up. We all were abused, poor, and lived with a very bad man. I was on my own since I was 13. My mom was too when she was young. Me and her both were into drugs bad. I have been clean for a long time . I am 23, with 3 beatiful kids, and a great husband. I hope Allah forgives me.

You live in the hottest country in the world and Ramadan falls in the hottest season. People collapse in the street from mineral depletion and dehydration when fasting and some have even died. Is it permitted to defer the fast under these circumstances?
