Yes , it is common to have cold during Ramadan, same as the rest of months.
The difference in Ramadan that you will not be able to take the hot liquids and cold medicines during fasting, beside the dryness of throat that could make the situation more uncomfortable.
Try your best to avoid catching cold by:
- keep away from deceased persons
- Avoid cold air droughts
- increase your intake of vitamin "C", which is plenty in lemon, orange, tomato, etc as you know it..
-Take supplementary of vitamin "C" as precaution in Ramadan if your immunity is temporarily weak for different reason.
If you have already developed cold in Ramadan, start your iftar with warm thick soup, maybe you have lost your appetite for eating, so the thick soup can feed you.
Then try one or more of the following drinks after the iftar and during the night,
-Chamomile hot drink
-Ginger with honey hot drink (good for throat infection)
-Warm lemon juice with one spoon of honey
-Take panadol (aspirin) 2 tablets before sleeping so you can sleep comfortably
At sohoor have soup and some of your regular food if you can then have one of the above hot drinks and at the end take 2 tablets of panadol or aspirin with one tablet of vitamin C if you can.
I am confident that the above will make you feel better.
Cold is nasty , we cannot cure it quick, but we can reduce it's uncomfortable effect as much as possible.
Wich you good health and may Allah bless you for your fasting and prayers.

PS I am not Muslim but I am Bahai, and My husband gets sick for every fast, and thats when I tell him he must break his fast , However I have friends who never get sick,
My husband works very long hours, i think this has something to do with it.

may b you have allergies?...i have allergies and it just turns out that around this time of year my allergies get worse with the weather changing.
try taking vitamins with vitamin c
Andrews: coughing or spitting saliva due to colds doesn't break your fast.
and swallowing saliva is okey. other wise you'll dry your mouth and get thirsty if keep spitting.
and for that matter anything done by accident doesn't break your fast.
see how mercy full Allaah is.

The person can take something for the cold at the time of the suhoor meal or at the time of the iftar. Or anytime afterwards, before the next day.

You can't treat viruses. You can only suppress symptoms.
