I need to get a present for my mom who is in her early fourties. I dont have a huge budget but I really want 2 get her something nice. She likes fashionable things alot, and she said that she would give me $ for me to buy her something but I would rather not do that because then its not really like its from me. What should I do?

I don't celebrate Christmas, but I understand why so many people do. Many believe it is the birthday of Jesus, so some do it to honor him. Others like getting or giving presents, singing carols, the stories and so on. I understand all that.

But I don't understand why anyone would want a pine tree in their house. The mess that must make must be huge. First getting it inside can't be easy, and rubbing against everything probably knocks off quite a few pine needles. You probably knock off quite a few more decorating the thing, and then many just naturally fall off as the time passes. Then I've heard of more than a few occasions where an animal didn't quite make it out of the tree before it got inside the house, so you might have squirrels and raccoons and such ready and waiting to scratch the living hell out your face for your trouble. Why keep this tradition, it seems so painful and time-consuming?

well wake up people, the real truth is no one on left radical side wanna answer up to! the whole issue is you lefty dont want any CHRISTIAN symbols of religion in public awareness and thats what this is all about! dec 25 is the Big holiday where people buy gifts to give. gift giving is not a major theme of other holidays so people spend more this time of year for one reason christmas not kwaanza not hannukah or some tree hugging pagan group so deal with it its christmas!

I try to decorate my house the first 3 days from December. When do you set up your X-mas decorations (like tree and stuff you decorate with)??? Just wondering!!! I feel Christmas is a special time of year for Christians throughout the world. Why are we being penalized for believing in Christ? I have no problem with Jews, Budhists and Muslims celebrating their holidays without changing the names and holidays they believe in.

Amidst all the happiness that surrounds the Holiday Season, I have always found it to be a bit of a sad time of year as well. Christmas Carols even seem to have a hint of melancholy to them. And it seems that you hear about more bad things hapenning during Christmastime.

Why does such a happy time also hold a bit of saddness?
