Well, you said you have an ipod, do you download music from itunes at all? If so, ask them for some itunes gift cards so you can download the music, videos, shows, etc. that you like from itunes.

You have a camera, is it digital? If so, maybe you need a larger or more memory cards, Staples online & in the store always seems to have great deals on the cards. Do you ever print pictures from your camera? How about photo paper so you can print out pictures?

You can always ask your parents to get your a gift card for one of your favorite stores, or even a gift card from Visa, Mastercard or American Express so you can spend it at any store when you happen to see the item that you just can live without.

My local Safeway store has itunes, Visa, Mastercard, American Express, various restaurants, Tartet, Nordstroms, various department stores, various stores, Starbucks, etc. gift cards.

Do you like going to the movies with friends? Maybe they can buy you a gift card for the movies. My neighbor bought one for my daughter as a birthday present, it was for $35 and it looked just like a credit card which the movie theater personnel swiped for her ticket and food/drink purchases. Or maybe your parents can buy you some DVD's that you've been wanting to add to your movie collection.

One more thing just came to mind.....do you have a class ring yet? I know they can be pricey (much more than when I was in high school) so maybe they can make a small contribution towards your class ring.

Hope some of these ideas help! I think it's very sweet of you to not want your parents to spend too much money! That is very thoughtful and considerate of you!

Good luck & happy holidays!

Hey Babs! If you already have an IPOD and a Camera, consider yourself, as a 16 year old, who is wondering what you might want blessed!! Most 16 year olds would consider that underprivelged in this day and age. Maybe that is what your parents are thinking and are hoping you would ask for. something where you could contribue the goodness of your heart.......which is what I read between the lines in your post.........I will leave it up to you! God Bless you girl!!

You can always suggest gift cards, but when you reach your 30's you realize that being 16 is really about making memories not this seasons hot item.

Why don't you suggest something fun for the family, like a theatre show, or festival, movie night...something together that's an outing to a you don't normally do to make something memorable - a short trip even. "Quality time". And then tell them you leave all the other little stuff they might want to give you to "Santa". I'm sure they'll be impressed & you with something neat to remember.

Clothes go out of style. Things like a pearl necklace or a ring with your birthstone will be forever and classy. Maybe a scanner so you can burn a family album on a CD? Maybe a little spa day with your mom and go to lunch? A jewelry box or hope chest for the future to keep your keepsakes and memories? A nice frame for photos?

Don't think about trends like electronics or fashion. Think about what will be with you for the rest of your life.

Cheers hon!

Tell them to give you some money so you can pick it out. or tell them what you want for christmas. or what you need. That is so sweet of you for not wanting your parents to spend so much money on you.

why not ask for a family trip? Clothes are great choice too, But I agree with those who suggest a nice piece of jewelry, that will last forever, and it will never go out of style

How about a nice piece of jewelry? Some small diamond earrings, or a special necklace. This is something that is so different from all the electronics, and that you can keep and treasure the rest of your life.

How about a membership to a gym?

Have them open a ROTH IRA for you invested in an S&P 500 index fund (SPY) or QQQQ.
