I've lived in Canada my whole life, so it's always cold and snowy for Christmas. I've always wondered if it really feels like Christmas in places like Florida or California, where it never snows. Does it?

Absolutely! I live in the deep south of beautiful Texas. Christmas is what you make of it. It comes from the heart. When you put up all the beautiful decorations, put the presents under the tree and listen to Christmas music, what else is there? I think it feels like Christmas the day after Thanksgiving, because that's when we start to decorate and that's when our small town turns on their Christmas lights in all the stores. The Main Street in our town has a Christmas party every weekend in December. They even shut down the main road. We have horse and buggy rides, Christmas carolers everywhere, live music on every corner, all the stores stay open until really late in the evening and Santa comes to the main plaza for all the children. It is really great fellowship and everyone from our town celebrates Christmas every weekend in December. There are thousands of people on Main Street during this time. We have people come from all over the US to visit during our celebration. It is very well-known! We know how to celebrate Christmas with the best of 'em! Merry Christmas to all!!!!!!

I've never lived anyplace but Florida, and while the Christmas spirit is still strong, I have to admit that every year of my life I've had at least a few moments when I wished it were snowy and cold. The tradeoff is that sometimes, if it's warm enough, we can spend a day with the kids on the beach over Christmas break!

Yes and no. I moved to Florida 20 years ago from Denver, so it was a real shock to my system to spend the holidays in a place where the temp hardly goes below 60 and there are palm trees and people wear shorts and flip-flops year round. But the spirit of Christmas is all around us, no matter where we live. As long as we have family and friends, Christmas still feels like Christmas.

Merry Christmas!!!

In my experience the Chinese do Christmas great, and they don't have snow - not in Hong Kong, Taiwan or Malaysia anyway (nor are they necessarily Christian, but obviously that is not necessary for Christmas). Christmas, if you don't have snow, is all about the lights. The bigger, the flashier, the better. Whole buildings covered with lights - THAT is the Christmas spirit. Also, the blending together of Chinese New Year and Christmas, so you get the animal of the year on all the Christmas card. I was in Taiwan for the year of the pig, and all the Christmas cards had pigs in santa suits. Perfect!

it definitely gets cold enough 2 feel like christmas. we wear sweaters and jackets and scarves while sipping hot cocoa and waking up to a white front lawn (covered in frost lol). it's no 15 below, but this time of year it's common 4 nighttime temps to be in the 30s, daytime highs in the 50s - ppl assume it's warm enough 2 wear tank tops & shorts on christmas day in cali, but that is a rarity.

No, I don't think so. My Mom once took us to Hawaii for Christmas and as guilty as I felt about it, it just didn't feel like Christmas. It was great as a warm, sunny vacation, but it definitely didn't feel like Christmas with a fake tree in a hotel room when it's 85 degrees. I know I am probably an ingrate, but I'd rather we hadn't spent the money.
