Well if you're using a fresh tree, you could buy it now, but leave it outside still. Odds are, any tree you'll be buying this reason regardless of when you purchase it, is already cut down and in a store or on it's way to a store for you to buy. So by buying it now will just give you a better selection. But don't bring it in your house just yet. Leave some more time outside, and obviously it will fall nicer if you open it up while it's outside. Put it inside and in water about two weeks before Christmas at most, otherwise it will die too early. That way it stays nice through the holiday and a bit after so you don't have to rush to take down all your decorations. That's what I will do

If you have an artificial tree... the day you take your Thanksgiving decorations down is the perfect time... pack away the TG and unpack the Christmas tree! If you still use a live tree, you should probably wait at least until December 15th. Put up your window lights and whatever else you use, then do your tree later; keep safe. Trees dry out quickly.

I think it's okay right after Thanksgiving. You know those Advent calendars where they have like little ornaments for each day of December? I like to have a tree ready so that you can hang those up for each day and get excited for Xmas. Of course you may not have one of those, but it just shows that people definitely put up trees all through December. Happy Holidays! =)

my family usally puts ours up about 2 weeks before christmas. but around here, we were seeing people with trees up 2 weeks before thanksgiving! it makes you think "the tree will be brown by the time christmas comes (unless you have a fake tree)" and "wouldn't you be sick of your christmas decorations by christmas if you had tem up that long?"
i mean come on............

Well my family suffers from allergies so we use a very pretty fake one.We have a tradition of putting ours up together on Thanksgiving day..Everyone even friends who stop by add at least one decoration..If your putting up a fake one, I would put it up two weeks before Christmas,so it will be fresher.

a lot of people put their up at thankgiving, others do it dec 1st. i'd probably wait until two weeks before christmas or at christmas break when the family can be together to decorate the tree&house, then curl up infront of the fireplace witrh eggnog!
happy holidays!
