A manger is a feeding trough for livestock. The imagery is designed to illistrate just how humble HIS begining was and if you arent impressed just ask yourself "do I know of ANYONE at all who does'nt know whom I am speaking about"?

A manger is also a Christian symbol, associated with nativity scenes where the baby Jesus used a manger in place of a crib (Luke 2:7). A favorite Christmas carol is "Away in a Manger"
