Me, its the thought of sharing it with my kids and my husband. Its my daughter's 1st Christmas this year. I know she wont remember it but I will. My son's 1st was last year. I remember how cute he was in his little reindeer slippers. Put pictures of it in his baby book so we can cherish it for a lifetime. The same with my daughter. Every moment is a memorable one with my kids. Is yours just as special?

Merry Christmas everyone! And a Happy New Year!

This is for my husband. The choices I gave him to give are a book "Music of the Western World" by L. Alberti or my Renoir framed print during his 'blue' period. He wanted my input so these are my choices he can have. Would anyone like to recieve on of these as a 'White Elephant?'

She's 25 years old and likes purses/shoes, but I don't want to buy her anymore because she already has so many. The max that I can spend is $100, but I'd like to spend more around $50 - 60.

I want to learn everything I can to honor and celebrate Hanukkah each year. I want to teach my godchildren about Hanukkah as well. I would sincerely love to learn about this Jewish holiday and if there are any secular significance of the season like the secular significance of Christmas is shopping for gifts. I know gifts have something to do with it as well. Any homemade suggestions as well as suggestions that involve purchasing would be appreciated. Please enlightening me as much as you can (websites and all). I want to celebrate Hanukkah next year with my godchildren. Essentially, as implied, you could say its for educational purposes. Thank you in advance as I greatly appreciate it.

What is all this insanity about banning christmas trees?
Or making sure there are enough Menorahs on display?

I enjoy celebrating our multiculturalism in Canada, but taking down christmas trees which is customary to our culture is ridiculous!

I have nothing against the jewish people, they have every right to be in this country and display menorahs as a decoration, however, making complaints because of the lack of them in decoration at an airport is also ridiculous.

It is a Canadian and American custom to celebrate christmas! I would not go to Israel and make them take down thier Menorah because there was no Christmas tree!

The stores sell halloween stuff, and they mention Thanksgiving(barely) and then they just go straight to Christmas. It was too soon I think. Macy's may be ready, but Jesus isn't.

Further more, are you annoyed by the term "holiday." I know that America is trying to be politically correct, but this is driving me crazy. If you love Hanukkah, then say, "Happy Hanukkah." If you love Kwanza, say "Happy Kwanza." And if you love Christmas, then say, "Merry Christmas!"

The secular world has stripped down Christmas to red and green basically. It has no meaning any more if you aren't religious. You can't please everybody, so please somebody. That's just my opinion anyway.

On A Christmas carol by Charles dickens the Marley's ghost tells scrooge that he will be visited by three ghost

(quotes from the book)

``Without their visits,'' said the Ghost, ``you cannot hope to shun the path I tread. Expect the first to-morrow, when the bell tolls One.''

``Couldn't I take 'em all at once, and have it over, Jacob?'' hinted Scrooge.

``Expect the second on the next night at the same hour. The third upon the next night when the last stroke of Twelve has ceased to vibrate. Look to see me no more; and look that, for your own sake, you remember what has passed between us."

But then how come when scrooge woke up after he had been visited by the ghost of christmas yet to come he woke on christmas day?I don't get it...can you explain this to me?
