This is for my husband. The choices I gave him to give are a book "Music of the Western World" by L. Alberti or my Renoir framed print during his 'blue' period. He wanted my input so these are my choices he can have. Would anyone like to recieve on of these as a 'White Elephant?'

BTW: The term 'White Elephant' is referring to a strange tradition which entails giving a used gift that is somehow useful or useable to someone else. Many work places have a 'white elephant' gift giving day. It enables the employee to share in a tradition without having to go and buy an actual gift. I'm not sure this is the dictionary definition, but it is the best explaination I can come up with.

I also forgot about the 'Gag' portion to the gift giving. This could be considered a 'gag' gift I suppose. Not to me, but probably to my hubby.

Usually white elephant gifts are gifts that you no longer want. If these are things you have no desire for then tell him to take them. I think of white elephant gifts as something I really don't want to receive either, kind of like a gag gift. Tell him if he doesn't like either of them then they probably are the best for him to take.

I think the funniest white elephant gift I've seen is a baggie of dry lint that was marketed as "instant fire starter" but it sounds like your gift day is a bit more serious than this!
