This isn't an issue but I'm curious to what others think. Do you tip a server at a buffet restaurant? My dad says "no" because he has to get up and get his own food and drinks as opposed to sitting down and having someone bring him his food for him. I'm not so sure. Is my dad right on this? We normally go out to breakfast about 2-3X a month and when we go to Hometown Buffet, Dad NEVER tips the server. Is he wrong in doing this?

Maybe someone who works at a buffet restaurant can help me out here.

It seems to be popular to use 'gay' as an insult. "That's so gay." "He's so gay" "They're so gay". I've heard kids who seem to have no real idea what that is use this expression. I've also heard kids who don't really believe being gay is bad use the expression.

Do the parents do nothing because they agree that being 'gay' (homosexual) is bad, so they support this kind of talk? [I don't, FYI] Is it because they don't have any idea how to give an age-appropriate response & point out what the kid is saying and doing?

So here's the deal.

My friend's mom had some housing issues.
They basically had to pack up and move to her grandmother's in Camp Springs,MD. from Greenbelt.
****(for those not from here, it's 45min away by car,and it's a 2hr train ride by metro)****
ANYWAY......my husband and I said she could stay with us because she was still working down the street from our house. She was like 7mos PREGNANT when she moved in, and she brought 3 cats, because her grandomther doesn't allow cats.
ALL WE SAID WHEN SHE CAME IS THAT SHE HAD TO PUT FOOD IN THE HOUSE.
Now I can be cluttered. But it's MY home. My living room wasn't like that. Now there's a mattress and she kicks her socks off in the floor and #@$%. It's like it's her room!!! She even left a @#$% pot on the stove of this macaroni salad for a week and let it mold!!!
My hubby was just like" Leave it...I wanna see how long she lets it stay there."
So I ended up saying something to her about it. I wasn't mean or nasty.

What is the correct way of addressing a letter to a married couple, the man being a doctor (say his name is James Anderson), and the woman being his wife (say her name is Mary Anderson, and she is a housewife). Why have we typically addressed the envelope, "Dr. and Mrs. James Anderson", instead of the seemingly more correct version, "Dr. James and Mrs. Mary Anderson", or "Mrs. Mary and Dr. James Anderson"?? Please state your source, and why it is the correct way. Traditionally, it's as though we have given no real identity to the female, in this case, Mary Anderson! It may seem trivial to you, but a lot is at stake here, so please be accurate and correct! Thank you for your irrefutably correct answers only!

A towel would be too hot and too dirty. I have never seen anybody with a towel on their head except when they are coming out of the shower....

I prefer to wear cotton or silk or a synthetic material that breathes easily on my head...

So why do people call me a towel head when what I wera looks nothing like a towel?

I've posted this question under several different categories in hopes that someone may be able to enlighten me.

I have two small dogs and in my neighbourhood it's very common to have more than one. It's just that kind of place. Anyways, I am used to the amount of attention my boys get...the usual stuff: oh, they're so cute, what breed are they, are they brothers...that sort of stuff...here's where the problem comes in. Once a year our area hosts a music festival...3 nights of bands playing on the street. Over the last few years, attendees have taken lots of photos of my dogs as if we're part of the show! For the past 2 nights, the dogs have had their photo taken about 20 times! Why would you want a photo of dogs you'll never see again? Why wouldn't you ask whether it was ok? So far the only people who ask are those that wanting to take their photo while holding them. Dognapping is a problem around here. Am I being paranoid or is this situation wierd? Any ideas what's up?
