Definately. I myself fell in love with Nicholas Cage's character after watching City of Angels. It may sound a bit cliche, but sometimes people want what they cant have.

It depends how socially inept or insecure the person is. Falling in love with a fictional character is certainly a "SAFE" bet as there is no risk, no rejection, and no loss if it doesn't work out. It is however, as unfufilling as a candy bar wrapper. Indulge yourself....find a real person who has faults, intimidates you and makes you crazy with thoughts of the future. There is no love without pain nor risk, or it wouldn't be love at all. Everyone has had infatuous thoughts about a celebrity or pop idol but those expectations are not real and rarely does the person measure up to our expectations.

logicaly i would say NO. While one may have an aversion to really liking this character and has fantasies of being together it is impossible to LOVE. as love is an emotion that also needs an action to give it substance. How on earth can or will you LOVE something that is not real or you can never have?????. Plus it is a sexual emotion that is driven by our need for companionship. You can love a person but you can never love an object.

Fanstasies are just that - fantasies and until they become reality one can not use terms from one dimension for another.

oh my YES! as silly as that sounds...its a bit child-like (not childish, although some would disagree) in a way.
remember back when you were a kid, fantasy ruled! you imagined you were a superhero, a villain, a monster, a prince/princess, a whathaveyou.
its only natural that you would have fantasies as a "grownup" only...its a secret "love".
of course you can fall in love with a character from a movie, or book.
i write romance novels in my spare time...and i fall for each and every one of my fantasy heroes! how could i not..i make them PERFECT!
but that is not reality, and when the story ends...so to does my love, then off to the next adventure. ha ha.

why do you think ppl have such a fascination with vampires and ghosts...etc. its the mysterious unknown...the romantic dark side of ourselves. its in our nature to find "relationships" in any situation. we long for company, if none is at our disposal...we invent it.

Yes, it fact I've fallen in love with real physical people, but created a fantasy about their personality.

Sure. Probably easier than with reality, since the warts don't show.
