It will hurt more if you go drunk, and the tattoo will bleed more.
No respectable artist will tattoo if you are drunk.
You are also more likely to pass out, throw up and move around more, making it more difficult for the artist to do a good job. You are also more of a hassel to them.
The better you sit, the better the tattoo..the straighter the lines. It takes longer to tattoo an intoxicated person.
Some artists will tell you if your worried about the pain, your not ready to get the tattoo.
Just go get the tattoo sober.

I have never been in a tattoo parlor that did NOT have some sort of sign indicating that they will not tattoo anyone who appears to be drunk, stone, high, or otherwise impaired. Even if you called ahead, there are all sorts of legal implications. Sorry.

Any respectable tattoo artist will not tattoo you while drunk. If you go there drunk, the artist will just send you away so you will have wasted their time and your own time.
If they do agree to tattoo you while you are drunk, although this your goal, I would walk away. They clearly aren't a respectable artist, and while their studio could be perfectly clean, there's a higher risk it's not going to be...

My brother-in-law was a tatooist. My sister was his assistant. I wanted a tatoo by them and thought the same as you. Get drunk and the pain is numbed. They refused me. They said no self-respecting tatooist would. If you're under the influence, you may have the shakes or something and mess up the job.

A good one won't do it if you are drunk. If you are worried about the pain, take pain medication 20-30 mintes before you have it done.

A good artist will not tattoo you. Alcohol thins your blood and will make the ink run more. I say thee, nay, do not drink before the ink.

As long as you don't tell him you've been drinking. When I was in Vegas they wouldn't do it but they did give me a piercing instead! I think it has something to do with the fact that you'll bleed more because your blood is thinner.
