Yeah, turn on the news. This dude was a sick, calculating, premeditating murderer. He made a video and sent it to NBC news during the 2 hour time between the shootings. He knew what he was doing. Do any of you still want to feel sorry for the poor, troubled, asian kid?

... just curious how everyone handles the flood of trolls, racists, and all-around bigots. What do you like to do? How do you, personally, deal with them.

Mine:

For the most part, I ignore. Trolls hate being ignored. Every now and then I give in and reply but that is rare and I am attempting to not but I slip up sometimes.

However, every now and then one gets my attention.

I sometimes expose the troll if it is not a well-known troll. What I do is post a list of its infractions (such as the people it hates and other trolling behaviours) in its questions to point the way for other answerers. I have learned that if the target of the trolling defends him/herself (his/her person and/or ethnicity), the troll gets what it wants.

I make the listing of its infractions as minimalistic as possible. I am just a "signpost" in these.

I have a habit of not going into troll's threads so I do not report as much as I suppose I should.

Why is it that when I ask a question about Latinos and spanish in the U.S. that I get told to "go back to my country". I was born in Puerto Rico but raised in the U.S. since I was 5. This is a nation of immigrants, the only natives are Native Americans. So why when an African American person defends themselves or a Latino American... do they get told to go back to Africa or Mexico or whatever? If I were born or raised here in the U.S. this is my home so why should i leave? I would never tell a White person who's ancestors are from Ireland or Britain to go back to Ireland or Britain... makes no sense to me. The only natives oh the U.S. are the Native Americans so when you tell someone who can trace their background to another country to go back to that country when they are American aren't you contradicting yourself?

For example you won't find a black child named Cindy Loue. But you will find one named Lakeisha. YOu won't find a white child named Shanaynay but you will find one named Hillary. What's up with that? Again I am not racist just curious! We are equal members of the human race!

The United Kingdom is made up of 2 Countries, 1 Province and 1 Principality, but yet is a single entity economically, politically, militarily and nationality wise (by law anyway)

Nations contained with this state include, England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

The Official name for the UK is, The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

It may possibly be because the English are the majority populous and through the expansion of the British empire, British soldiers and other people from Britain had always referred to the UK purely as England.

This is not meant as a racist question.

I personally believe that the "culture" created by SOME rappers, based around, being thug, having bling etc. etc. actually keeps black people down. In fact, lets extend it: Not just black people but anyone in a rough life situation who listens to this music.

It gives them nothing to aspire to, and basically makes it look cool to shoot people, to go to jail, to pimp...... I could go on.

Anyway, what do you think? Should we censure this type of music? I recognize rap as an artform, but I don't this the place its been taken to in the last 10 years is a good thing.

Weigh in! What does everyone think?

The Virginia Tech incident is probably the first time I've heard of an Asian person going on a suicide mission to take as many people out as possible. Probably hasn't happened since the Japanese Kamikaze strikes in World War 2.

Why are people dissing Asians now?

The massacre was such a horrible incident. to make matters worse, the felony happened to be performed by a minority (Korean). This may attract negative reactions to racial relationships. Around you, do you see people's attitude towards Asians are changing? If so, what are they like? I really hope this does not happen, but it's important to look at things the way they are.

I'm half Filipino. Yeah, I sometimes feel like taking a swing at people that perpetuate certain stereotypes. I'd imagine most people have to deal with that sort of thing at some point in their lives too. I am sure that our culture had something to do with Cho's descent into complete madness. Maybe I am wrong and just biased toward that conclusion.
